| Their number 1 looked class today. Noticed he played half back though.
He's just the type of playmaker we need for next season

Abysmal effort. Even with the players coming in I don’t see much improvement. Hoy isn’t a half back and Macintosh isn’t a full back.
Feel sorry for Barron as he’s out of his depth and needs to go out on loan.
There’s no leaders in the 17 and I don’t see leaders in any of the players coming in.'"
I still see us as a bottom 4 team next season, Smith has done a good job of getting rid of most of the players who needed to leave.
What I'd hope for is less of today's performances moving forward, and an extension of that purple patch we had when we turned Wigan and Saints over at home.
If things "go well" I could see us challenging for a top 6 spot in 2025.
It's going to take time.

| Only bright part today was the Staveley did more in 20 odd mins than lane has all season. Hopefully we have a few more to step up as that’s the only chance we have at any success next year.
I’m yet to see any suggestion that Harvey Barron is a SL player. Surely Lewis Martin deserves a crack over him and bring Balmforth in for saints please

Physically Martin is ahead of Barron, so surprised he hasn't had a shot yet. In fact, I think if Martin has the chance that Barron did today on the breakaway, Martin scores. I think he has the strength to fend off Pryce

| I’d like to see Martin given a chance.
Impressed me when I’ve seen him in the reserves.

Apart from a few decent squad players we haven't produced a high quality SL player in years.

| Well you know how much I love the FC but some of that lot out there should be bloody ashamed. Yeh I know they train every day and they have to keep their bodies tuned and many carry injuries at the end of the season, but they only really work for 80 minutes a week in front of their customers so surely they can show some sort of dedication and resolve !!!
Whilst enduring that performance today I reflecting on so many more that have been the same over the years and I commented that thank goodness there is no relegation next season. Because that was just abysmal and the signings we have made hardly engender much hope for doing much more than standing still. We are losing the few better players we have and even if we can replace like for like it's hard to see anything but a blooming struggle next season. We would have been nailed on relegation candidates next year particularly when you compare how far today we were behind the 9th club just one place above us. They were hardly intense either themselves.
We might have one of the best coaches in the League (and I'm convinced we have) but in the last couple of weeks he must have realised just what a challenge making anything of this lot this season has been and what a test of his credentials the future is!!!
When you have a minute, look at the starting 1 -17 of 2017 and compare it with what we have now and then look how we built that team over the years and you'll agree its hard to see how a club can then go so far backwards so quickly, still I guess I'll renew, but not with a lot of hope going forward. Bring on the end of the game next Friday, (I just hope the score board operator has a good calculator) and let's get back to that wonderful wasteland were all we have to exist on is having some (possibly misplaced) hope for the next campaign.

| Quote: hull2524 "Well that was fun. Apart from the outgoing players. We still need to shift a fair few. Today was awful. Mac not a FB. Barron not ready. Sutcliffe average. Scott still not sure on the kid. Swift will miss. Hoy jury out but think he will be ok. Clifford definitely miss. Satae won't miss. Taylor age maybe caught up with him. Fash squad player lane no comment. Savellio on this year won't miss. Cator needs to play behind a bigger pack. Staverly still raw. Rest of the bench average. Glad when the season finishes. The job in hand is massive. As I said we can't keep sacking coaches'"
The problem we have for next season is with the unknown quality of player coming in,the end of season capitulation of the team once again its going to severely effect pass sales and makes the clubs financial problems even worse.
It was obvious today that McIntosh was moved to full back in order to give Hoy some game time at halfback as it looks certain now he will play there next season as we dont have any option.
Sutcliffe is average, always said so and the fact is next season we look to have a very poor threequarter line and now Swift has gone we have no strike players either at centre or wing.
I have also yet to see any of the clubs younger players that could step up and play regular S/L next season.Potential is fine at reserve/academy level but the gap is probably at least two years till we see someone if any that make the grade. The lack of regular reserve fixtures means that several of these players will have to go out to Championship clubs on loan or fall by the wayside.
Selecting McIntosh at full back was an ideal time to give Martin a run rather than Barron and i cant see the point of Smith including him in the squad if he was never going to play.
At least we have a decent full back coming in next season

Why has he done a good job getting rid of players we dont need?
most fans recognised the players that needed to go
The difficult one was probably Griffin.
He can certainly be criticised by continuing to play Lovodua,Lane and Dwyer

"""Smith done a good job getting most of the players to leave""""
Likes of Clifford, swift, taylor, satae, savelio are still head and shoulders above other players
Alot of deadwood still here next season that's the problem "hull born and bred" so doesn't get noticed as much
Carlos is one of the biggest deadwood nowadays yet people don't notice it
