| A shame if he's had a change of heart, he is undoubtedly a talent. Lets face it though it's not as bad as when Scott Prince changed his mind.
Maybe he's afraid of big crowds or noise?

| All he has to do, is look at Broughs career, been one of the best players in SL and has only won one thing (wonder who that was with?), him and Crabtree should have left years ago and they could have achieved something in the game.

| Didn't something similar happen a few years ago with Carvell? I'm sure he renegaded on a deal and wanted to sign for Warrington I think we ended up getting a transfer fee.

| Quote ="ChrisH"Or maybe Hudds misinterpreted the rules believing that FC couldn't speak to the player until he was 22 without paying a fee rather than FC being within the rules to agree to his signing , have the contract signed now and come into effect after he is 22 thus avoiding any fee. So as well as losing a player they miss out on a fee which has persuaded them to do everything they can to throw a spanner in the works including offering him more money perhaps? Hence the threat from FC that they would pursue anyone who has offered inducements to break the contract. Who is his agent? Maybe it's just an opportunistic attempt to try to get some more out of the deal on the back of Hudds being miffed off? Up to now he's simply signed for FC within the rules and no fee is payable nor is there any evidence from the player or his agent that there is anything untoward. And Huddersfield stated that Conner had already turned down the best offer in the World before Hull said they'd signed him. I'm guessing at that point him signing for someone else wasn't a complete surprise.'"
The thing is hudds have said the same all the way through- they believe a fee is payable if he signs a contract whilst he is 21. - hull keep changing their story in their "official statements" first of all he's definitely signed, then he's signed in principle subject to a medical at the end of the year, and he will sign after his birthday, next that medical took place last week and he has (again) signed. With all these changes in the statements it seems a bit odd don't you think?
His agent was Iestyn Harris- now there's someone who doesn't understand contracts!

| Well, I hope he's signed for us. Looks to have a bit of the dog in him. In a Shayne McMenemy, rather than Joel Monaghan, way.

| I think Hull tried to get him on the cheap, but it was always a risk and they realised it and got him to sign a contract.
If he stays I think we will have to pay fee, it will be about the same you paid Kopczak, reckon he is worth 20k

| All down to who he wants to play for. If he has signed our contract and it is lodged with the RFL then he's our player despite the protestations from the hudds fan so if he doesn't want to play for us hudds need to cough up some wedge for him

Actually the first statement simply said he'd signed. The second statement - in response to the comments from Huddersfield - clarified that he'd agreed a contract in principle subject to a medical (hardly unusual) and if he passed then his contract would be in effect from the end of the season. This last statement simply follows on from that - he had the medical, passed, and signed the pre-agreed contract.
What's gone on in the background is anybody's guess. The RFL doesn't have a stellar record with the clarity or policing of their contract rules and it's entirely possible that all three sides - Huddersfield, Connor, and Hull FC - believe they are in the right. I fact it's even possible that all three have been told by the RFL that they're in the right.
It'll all come out in the wash eventually.

Yup, sounds spot on, confusion and lack of clarity on all sides. As you say. Will play out however it plays out

| ..... the press are very good at creating confusion.
Leaking stories and reporting rumours seems to be their bread and butter nowadays.
Not all parties are necessarily at fault here.

The reason Connor and his agent are keeping quiet to me says it all.
The fact that our club have issued a second statement referring to possible legal action seems to suggest they are trying to put pressure on the player but if he doesnt want to come now then its better to know at this stage.
May be disappointing for some but i would rather spend any money we have on a 6

Not really, if hudds wanted to try and keep him they would still have offered him more money as they have.
I'm guessing that as long as the contract starts after his 22nd birthday we don't have to pay hudds. All contracts must be signed before they come into effect and presumably the one he has signed is now with the RFL who recognise him as a Hull player from next season. I reckon the compensation for players under 22 only takes effect if the contract starts before their 22nd birthday
We can't force him to play for us though

No. I saw Eorl re-arrange his ponytail in good humour in response to chants of "he looks like a girl" though.

That was pretty funny. I wonder how much stick Jake got after the game with the "He's one of our own" chant at him?
Best one of the night was for the silly prat with the drum. "If you can't bang a woman bang a drum".
