| stating the obvious, I know, but what a shockingly poor season we've just witnessed. Here's my take on how the team has performed - it is only my opinion.....or is it?
BLAYMIRE (4/10) - dissapointing, needs to sharpen up
BLANCH (4/10)- very dissapointing, not fulfilling early potential
GLEESON (5/10) - gone, not as bad as some would suggest
MILLARD (5/10) - 'magic'? i'm afraid not
GEORGE (5/10)- needs to improve substantially
JEFFRIES (6/10)- patchy, needs to work off a good halfback
KORKIDAS (6/10) - solid, but unspectacular
FERGUSON (5/10)- going backwards, needs to turn form around quickly
MORRISON (7/10)- generally good, but age may be an issue
DEMETRIOU (5/10)- gone, doesn;t appear to have another SL season in him - steady performer but time has run out
OBST (8/10) - consistent tryer, one of few successes this year
BIBB (3/10) - not good enough - let him go
JOHNSON (4/10) - gone, below average performance
HENDERSON (6/10) - not spectacular - but has been a dependable asset
MURPHY (7/10) - faded towards bac end - but definitely one of seasons success stories
KING (6/10) - solid performer
LEO-LATU (5/10) - gone, brilliant one minute, abject the next - about right time to release
COOKE (3/10) - nowhere near good enough on form shown with trinity - release
MORTON (5/10) - patchy form - needs more game time
DAVEY (5/10) - as above
MOORE (4/10) - sorry, but form has gone backwards and is becoming a liability with risky offloads - would let go
GLEDHILL (5/10)- given a chance, patchy form but shows signs of promise
KIRMOND (7/10) - gone back to Giants, but turned in regular above average performances - which in this team is good! would try to sign
LEAENO (6/10) - limited appearances, but what I've seen is good
RINALDI (6/10) - workmanlike, good cover - would keep
JOHN KEAR (5/10) - sorry to say this, I'vebeen a big fan - bit this year his performance appears to have gone backwards - I would still back him for next season - but there needs to be a real improvement

| It should simply read "a major clear out of dead wood, starting in the boardroom though the coaching staff and into the playing squad".
I would get rid of the following to start with :
Ted - Out has no money to invest and no apparent idea how to run a professional sportsclub
Teds Family members - See comments re Ted above
Francis Stephenson - Sorry, but unless we have to have an individual in this role to meet SL rules, not sure what he does that Elston couldn't take on
JK - Wanted out, has overseen an alarming slump in performance and results - grant him his wish
Broadbent - rumoured to want more than we are prepared to pay, plus forwards have dropped off towards the back end - time to let him go
Colin Sanctuary - Not sure he has the right attributes to get the right results for SL players. If as was suggested previously he was only doing what he was told, then thats even worse he should have spoken out as the expert in this area. Replace with someone who has a background in RL

can't argue with a lot of that to be fair.
I went on what we see on the field rather than what we think is going on in the background - i know the 2 things are related, but the playing side is out there for all to see - whilst the back room stuff can be open to interpretation.

I agree playing staff needs to be changed, but without a fresh impetus in the backroom staff and running of the club, improving the playing staff on its own will only take us so far

Agreed; total change of culture, attitude and methods are required. Bring on the new broom.

| Last season was all about over achievment, the rugby was a bit better than this season but the players were the difference. They were bound by a comeradery for a lost friend and in order to honour his memory they played each game as a team as if it was life or death.
We have a better motivational coach perhaps than a tactical one, the players got through the games on guts rather than fitness, and the big top buffoonery that goes on in our boardroom mattered to them not.
What's been different this season? To me it's the players, ok seeing your best players leave does not give you much hope, but they have been largely woeful and should be held in sole responsibility.
So what for next season?
Get rid of the richardsons, perhaps the rfl may be our saviours on this one, yes where still hanging on in SL but only just, and there has not been enough off field development over the last ten years or so to warrant them a success.
Give JK one last go, give him the type of under achievers he can motivate around a star performer and get a leader of men on the field to replace JD.
And hopefully the good news on Newmarket, that will act as a catalyst for new blood on and off the field and years of progress and development in SL, and who knows a shiny pot for our shiny new home somewere down the line.
As for this season, good riddance, I'll be glad to see the back of it.
Oh and a season of listening to a miserable teenage bulls fan larging it and even the mutations from over the river banging on!!!

I would get rid of the following to start with
I would differ on several of those points, although I agree we need some fresh impetus / new blood, but I would challenge 2 points:
1 Ted is well versed in the running of the club. He has done well to get us this far and, if / when NM comes off, he will be seen as one the major contributors to the clubs history.
2 You would be wrong to assume what you do about FS. He is playing a major role in the move to NM and also towards our licence application. JE is the flair man, the one with ideas - FS is the nuts and bolts man who can make things work.
But, as said, I think now would be a good time to get some new ideas into the club - at several levels.

While I do like Sam he's hardly the sort of player to build a team around.

RE FS - fair enough if he is contributing something that Elston can't then keep him.
Re Ted - this may seem harsh, but I agree that he has done well to get us this far especially having overseen some major cock ups, none more so than the Pearman debacle. A number of inept decisions at BOD level over the years have almost certainly created a negative perception of the club to others and is pehaps one of the key reasons why the fans of other clubs aren't queuing up to defend our right to remain in SL, like they are some of the other clubs under threat (ie Cas)

| i have just changed the opinions on the players, left ratings, generally right.
BLAYMIRE (4/10) - i think the lack of effort when returning the ball shows he isnt really interested
BLANCH (4/10)- defensively attrocious, sort that out and i think he would be alright. needs to be disciplined enough to stay on his flipping wing!
GLEESON (5/10) -has been shocking most of the year, but then again, playing in a low moraled side with other players, think he will return to last years form if we win a few, has shown some glimpses of quality
MILLARD (5/10) - fair season, would have scored more had brough not departed then people may have said he was more magic
GEORGE (5/10)- always injured, but you cant argue with his try scoring record
JEFFRIES (6/10)- shows he needs to work with a propper full back
KORKIDAS (6/10) - talismanic tryer. wont go anywhere else, nowhere would have him.
FERGUSON (5/10)- not had a great year
MORRISON (7/10)- quality player
DEMETRIOU (5/10)- good servent but we will be a better team in attack without him
OBST (8/10) - lots of effort, sometimes lacking application
BIBB (3/10) - who?
JOHNSON (4/10) - hardly played, no opinion
HENDERSON (6/10) - effort, always trys, need people like him in your side.
MURPHY (7/10) - needs to play fullback to show his full potential. next years first choice fullback by a mile.
KING (6/10) - best prop we have, sets up breaks always tries, rarely misses tackles
LEO-LATU (5/10) - top error maker, do i need to say more
COOKE (3/10) - played out of position all year, he is a 13. no doubt. would play well with a decent half back pairing imo
MORTON (5/10) - young
DAVEY (5/10) - as above
MOORE (4/10) - not big enough by a long way. not a prop, always getting pushd back, cant offload anymore. risk, needs to bulk up significantly or go
GLEDHILL (5/10)- given a chance, patchy form but shows signs of promise
KIRMOND (7/10) - gone back to Giants, but turned in regular above average performances - which in this team is good! would try to sign
LEAENO (6/10) - limited appearances, but what I've seen is good
RINALDI (6/10) - workmanlike, good cover - would keep
JOHN KEAR (5/10) - as he is a director, he has to take responsibility for the sale of brough which has caused the demise of our season
