| Hopefully not, and I hope he'd still think he has unfinished business here, he also strikes me as the type of coach who likes the day to day coaching and interaction of the players.
However, from a rugby league coaches point of view it is I suppose "the pinnacle" of the game?? and could be too hard to turn down for kear to be able to make a better go of it 2nd time around.

| for John's sake I hope this option is not put before him... because if the option is there ... he will take it. But I dont believe it would be the best for him or the England team.
When JK joined Wakefield and masterminded the famous escape via the 'million dollar game', no body wanted him... he was out of work... shelved by Hull, and getting by on scraps of TV work. The JK/Wakefield combination is a match made in heaven... a low budget team needing tight control and focus... and a coach who revels in the underdog role, getting the best out of hard working 'ham and eggers'.
Sorry, but John Kear is not the future of British Rugby league.... the game should be grooming younger coaches... to accompany the younger players coming through... and this come from a die hard Wakefield fan who has marvelled at what he has achieved with our club.
I just dont see what he would bring to the England set up...

| I would like John to take us to the next franchise at least and the stadium he deserves it, it would be at least the foundation laid

| IMHO a player should not need coaching at that level, just directing into a game plan, and the man in charge should be inspirational, and a person who commands respect, in saying that I think the job should go to Ellery Hanley.

| I too think Kear would be making a mistake, yes it’s the pinnacle of the job in England but you’re on a hiding to nothing. Within a year of inevitable poor results, a lack of player ability rather then coaching ability, he will get hounded out of the job and end up on the scrap heap again.
He has everything he wants at Wakefield, full control of the team, players who will listen and respect him and a fairly safe job. He spent so much time reorganising the coaching department it would be a waste to just abandon that for an enticing but ultimately futile role.
Also the club are on the verge of very exciting times and the lure of seeing the club move into a new stadium under his tenure would be a great legacy for him.
To be honest there is no real reason for a full time England coach, the national team play 4/5 games a year. Kear seems a very hands on person and I would imagine that kind situation would leave him extremely frustrated for 10 months of the year. Sure he’ll have more time for commentary work but I sure he will miss the nitty-gritty (apologies to the ultra PC extremists out there) of day to day coaching.

| John Kear is by far, the best thing to have happened at Wakefield Trinity for many a year. For him to leave would be a devastating blow to the club and it's ambitions.
Please don't go John.

100% agree, players at that level need organisation, a game plan and MOTIVATION..... EH would do a good job........Leave JK alone

| Good club coaches do not necessarily make good national team coaches.
JK has clearly thrived in the task of reviving of Wakey and the transformation in the club has been outstanding. However, reviving the England team that has struggled to compete for 30+ years is a clearly going to be a long-term, arduous job that should be given to some young like Shaun Edwards.

| The last quote I can find is from the Wakefield Express on 14th of this month rlhererl
Seems as good a time as any for the club to inform the RFL how much compensation they would be seeking should the RFL wish to take a person on contract from the club.
This would hopefully prevent the temptation from being put by the RFL to J.K. to leave a job in progress.
