| Myler will probably have a blinder, he shouldn't be an issue if he's on normal form. His stand out feature is his missus.

| We shouldn't be having to blame ref or look at Myler good or bad.
If we play like we can we are good enough to win the game.
Discipline will be important and the defense out wide equally so but we are good enough. Let's just get it done.

| To be fair to Kendal, he doesn't show any particular bias but he is just blind.
The Tom Johnstone try last Thursday was just typical of the guy. Without the VR Tom would have been denied a good score when many with a worse view than Kendal could see the ball was a good foot in play on touchdown.
We just have to hope we are "lucky" with his lottery style of officiating. This is particularly important regarding his ball steal interpretations.
Prefer him any time to Child or Hicks or even Mickeymouseovich.

| Just read that Rhinos coach David Furner has been and had a word with SL head of Ref's, Steve Ganson, on certain referees decisions in Rhinos opening games.
Looks like it's going to be an interesting game Friday night.

I do not agree at all.
Tom's try was not clear until it was shown on TV.
If you were close and you knew then fair enough but no of the commentators thought so first time view and most of the ground would have had no idea.
Even the players rushing in asked him if he thought he'd scored.
Kendal did the right thing to go to screen.
His mistake was blowing up too early for the Hampshire break but he blew for what he saw. Most of the time people complain refs don't take responsibility so you can't have it both ways.
I think he's fine. There are far worse.

So what is the point in touch judges and the in goal who are both stood within a metre of that try looking from different angles? Fair enough it was on TV so he had the luxury of a video referee there just to make sure but he handed it up as a no try? That indicates had it been a non TV game a perfectly good try would have been chalked off because 3 officials cannot come up with the correct decision between them.

This is exactly my point though. He gets it wrong on numerous occasions so we have to rely on the toss of a coin.
If the screen is available it should always be used but this refs call thing completely undermines its effectiveness at times.
There are far worse as I said.

Correct. But sometimes it's hard to tell. Not sure what the problem is.
He had two players all over him and covering the view of the ball.
Like I said, the guys commentating on TV with the aid of a screen needed a second look.

Like Fifita PP has proved time and time again he can do much longer than 20 mins in a game - ld be looking for more like 40 tbh.

After 10-15 minutes he becomes a bit leaden footed in defence.

Did 80 minutes away at Cas last season I believe. The thing that worries me about Pauli is defensively his tackling isn't always the best and his technique can leave a lot to be desired but there is no doubt with ball in hand he can be devastating.

Not necessarily, he didn’t use the VR for the alleged obstruction by Hampshire in the Catalan game. VR only useful when called upon.

| Why do we always default to having a ref that's against us? It's been Child for a number of years, and now we seem to have decided that Kendall is a clear and present danger - it's a crackers, chip on the shoulder attitude.
In the end, refs are human and will always be prone to mistakes, just like players. But the single biggest factor in avoiding being on the wrong side of the ref is to not give away stupid penalties, and to play at the edge - but not over it.

For the 3rd time! IMHO. Kendall isn't against anyone, let alone us, he is just unpredictable and inconsistent. The VR gives us some protection (TJ's try) but only if he uses it (RH's obstruction not).

Indeed.
We will probably lose this game for the far more likely reason that we don't turn up in the right frame of mind.
Since the Chester take over we have played some great RL and had some freak performances, most notably against Wigan and Hull.
What we have not done yet is master the art of the 'big game'. Yes we have done pretty well in the last two play offs but we still lost. The CCup remains an utter embarrassment despite making a semi final.
Most notable has been our inability to beat or beat when we should our two great rivals, nothing from Cas since 2015, nearly half a decade ago!!! Its been patchy against Leeds though much better than Cas - but we failed miserably in Fifita's first home game a few years back which was one a lot of undecided fans turned out for, another well aimed shot in the foot.
A lot will be watching this game with interest and its an ideal one to make a mark in - to do so we need to play to our absolute best, that imho will be good enough despite what Kendall does or doesn't do. Leeds are a decent team with some good players but they are far more for the taking than they were in their pomp a few years back - but they sure as hell won't roll over for us, nobody does.

Absolutely. Sadly this is the case right from grass roots junior games right through to the top. Seems a strange trait almost unique to our sport from what I can see. I bet that any given game were fans moan about the referee, at least 50% of the players make as many or more mistakes and they have much more effect on the outcoume of the game.

Exactly.
It's not the ref that will miss tackles, pass the ball to the invisible man knock the ball on etc, etc.
If we control these aspects of our game, we almost dont need a ref.
Mind you, the south stand will be begging as usual
Definitely winnable but, we need to be on top our game and sod the ref.

We are in control of winning. Let's just support the team and forget about the ref.

The point is mate the "try-no try" screen has a sponsor. That screen has to be shown for a certain amount of air time each game. Check it out next time, it becomes obvious.
