1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?
I missed a number games due to being at uni but followed on the radio and TV save for Easter and Summer breaks so I can't comment as well as some but we played very well to finish where we did and overcame some of the greatest adversities and tragedies in the club's history. An extremely successful year, save for a disappointing exit in the playoffs.
2 - Who are the key players for you?
Everyone. Wakefield play as a team and our depth of cover is just as important as the "starring roles" of players such as Brough. Tronc and Morrison bring quality to the pack, we have a lot of attacking options with Jeffries, Brough, Obst, Newton and Latu and we have some great youngsters coming through the ranks.
3 - Young star to watch?
Morton seems to be making a mark, but if George gets a consistent run he'll be bagging a lot of tries.
4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?
He's already gone. Nobody at present, but perhaps Bibb if you forced my arm because he doesn't seem to want to bust a gut in a Trinity shirt. Too bad. I would have said Hendo once upon a time but he's been proving me wrong for the last year or so by playing consistently well.
5 - What's the opinion of John Kear?
The perfect coach for a team like Wakefield and long may his reign continue.
6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?
Our Grand Final appearance
7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?
Has to be Sculthorpe because of his immaturity and inability to accept responsibilities as a professional sportsman. I don't spare him much thought any more but I hope he gets some banter from the stands this season, just to wind him up.
8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?
Very, save for the loss of Stosic. Millard, Tronc, Morrison and Jeffries give us a new look quota that offers some quality in a lot of areas. Newton brings experience and hopefully a fresh start will give him a boost. Pity he's taken a knock or two already. Hopefully King will prove his worth and Johnson will not get injured every week! We'll miss the utility value of Grix. However, he was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Drew gave us some good performances but his best years are behind him now. Rooney sadly wasn't up for SL anymore IMO. I honestly think it's a shame Bibey stepped down from SL rugby because he played well last year. And Stosic was a machine, his ability to find the floor quickly as well as gobble up everything in defence will be missed.
9 - You have been stuck in a similar position for a while now, can Wakefield ever challenge for silverware?
Has to be a cup run for now but I think we have the coach and the promise for the future to be up there in SL in a few years time. It all hinges on the stadium.
10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?
As a new look team, I think we'll perform solidly and improve over the course of the year though we may find ourselves a prop and a second row short at times if injuries are unkind. We seem to have a lot more options in a smaller squad this year and shouldn't be easy to beat at any point. A lot of teams look stronger this year than last but so do we. Taking that into consideration, I think we'll finish 6th.
