| Our new chairman, has stated he wants us in SL in the next few years.
He has also said he expects us to win promotion this season.
Now if we don't do either if these things, then what?
Do we just muddling along, or is the club just going to slowly die.

simpsons/simp048.gif I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

You should have asked him at the fans forum.
Superleague is a distant dream IMO. We have no money and SL don't want teams like ours.
We should just concentrate on getting out of this division (and it won't be as easy as some think).
Our medium term goals should be a stable club in the championship with a team that wins more games than it looses (especially at home) a crowd of over 1,500, with and active successful youth policy.

Not a chance of superleague, I think you will struggle adjusting to Championship 1, I hope you come back up next year though.
As for Super League, He is living in a world of his own, Widnes up next and then there will be 2015 before next looked at, there will be FAX, FEV, LEIGH, BARROW and whoever comes down, all possibly with the ticklist sheet completed. You need to concentrate on getting a fan base and pulling them back from the Bulls, Get it up to over 2k, A decent ground that holds 10k and a £1million turnover.
Unless the RFL change these and lower them then i affraid those days are gone, Just like ours most likely have. Good luck for next season, i wish you all the best !!

| With in my opinion a better squad than last season, I would guess we're heavy favourites for the title this year.
I think a lot will depend on whether the club can turn good results on the field in to numbers through the turnstyles which I don't think will be easy.
If the club has budgeted conservatively I don't see why it should break the club if we fall short this season either.

| A bit of a gloomy post from the O/P!!! Not every football club is in the Premier league, but I'm sure they don't all think that it's pointless going on!
I would like to think that Cougars can attract bigger crowds and become part of the fabric of the local community, and if we can do that I'd be happy. I don't see SL as the vital goal, as soon as success and money becomes the ultimate goal of any sport (like the Premier League now) all the fun goes out of the game.

| My personal view is that the only way that any Championship club can increase their support is by returning to the winter game as many former supporters either play other summer sports themselves or have other family committments - not forgetting holidays.
How many Championship clubs believe that 'Summer Rugby' is a success?
We've tried it /....................,slrgpihnapIIXCEWWWWWWWWW (sorry the cat walked over the keyboard) and with the best will in the world I don't believe that anyone could claim that it has been a success.
As for Superleague - well the 90's have gone and a single Championship Division would be the ideal format for the future instead of padding-out the season with the NR Cup.

I think actually scheduling games during the summer would help, some of the gaps we had in our fixture list were ridiculous.
As for the 1 division 2 division debate we're in a bit quandry with it. There's not really enough clubs for 2 and too many for 1.

| Not enough clubs? Perhaps the RFL could try and expand the game...
...oh hang on, they already do. Just at the wrong end of the table!

We probably need another half dozen teams to be honest to have 2 decent sized divisions.
Then you open up a debate about whether or not we have a talent pool big enough to sustain it at a good enough quality in the short term.

| Would it not be easier to try and get teams into Championship 1, and playing at that modest level first, rather than concentrating everything on SL in a bid to raise the profile of RL nationally? It just seems to me that all we ever hear about is SL and trying to get teams established in far-flung areas of the country, rather than encouraging a natural spread outward from the heartlands of the game.
On the other hand, I've no axe to grind about clubs from other regions joining in, but let it be encouraged gently rather than trying to force it.

| Adult season ticket price up £20, entry into ground down from £14 to £11 not a good start.
