| The second half tonight was the most pathetic , abject, spineless performance I have seen for many years! Mistakes, dropped ball, needless penalties, lack of team discipline, an absolute fiasco! and these shortcomings have been obvious all season
In my opinion Eaton has failed as a coach, if it were me I'd sack him.

| I imagine he is as unhappy as the rest of us if not more so. I can't say I am in the camp of sacking the man. Far from it. I think it is the problem of beating Oldham and getting on a high forgetting that they were having serious problems when we played them.

| And how has he failed?.
This is how keighley have done while Barry has been at the club.
2006. 11th (4 wins) with Peter Roe as Director of Football
2007. 10th (6 wins)
2008. 5th (15 wins)
2009. 2nd (9 wins) so far
Reason for him to be sacked. No way. It was the our 1st home defeat of the season against the form team of the league.

| Well its a good job you have nothing to do with that decision. Are you unable to read the league table and see that we are in the best position we have been in for around 5 years. We are second place, and we have the fate in our hands, not waiting for other teams to slip up, if we win our games we finish second. I have not heard something so daft in a long time. Barry did not drop the ball, Barry did not throw the silly passes, Barry did not give away the penalties, do I have to go on. The team were well beaten in the end, by a ruthless Dewsbury who have not lost a league game this season. Up until last night we had not lost a game at home, how long ago since we could say that. Get a grip, our season so far has been our most successful for a long time. Barry does a fantastic job for the club, the players are all playing well apart from at times last night. I realise tat you have the right to your opinion, but so do I to mine. The players need to learn from last night, control their discipline and work towards the Workington game and getting a good result from that game. I wish them all well, I am sure they will be put through their paces in training by Barry to try and sort out the errors and work on earning a win at Workington.

| Think its on par with the letter someone wrote to the League Express the day after our playoff loss v Rochdale who also deemed Barry a failure.
Id say 99.99 per cent of the cougar faithful disagree with them both.

Cheers for that.
It save me writing the same thing.
One thing that could be questioned is Barry coaching from the touch line.
I wonder if it would be better if he was up in the stand.

| Well said bakewell, I think your letter was spot on, yes we lost, but we have 4 matches left and we can win them all, we are not a poor team, just a bad 40 minutes of rugby on 1 night. We will make the play-offs and we can win them and still get promoted to the championship.
If you are so great aparejodor, why don't you coach the team, and see how well you do?

Hmmm!
Assuming that Barry is "good" coach then it's the players who are bad!
Assuming the players are "good" then Barry is bad.
Or somewhere in between.
Very disappointed after last nights game but watching the TV coverage only emphasised what I, and probably a lot of others including barry and the team, already knew.
When this team clicks, and so far IMHO it hasn't, it really could be as good as dewsbury , but i don't think they think they could be.
Let's be realistic shall we.
2nd in a league where one team is head and shoulders above the rest yet would posssibly find the championship a tough proposition.
Assuming that the Cougars were successful in the play offs do you REALLY think the team could compete in it's present guise?
Really, truthfully, HONESTLY!!!
As things stand at the moment the answer has to be NO!!!
Could they?
Yes, but it would need a lot of hard work and sacrifice which for part time players is not the easiest thing to do.
So it's down to the coach and players to decide what they want to do.

| Good points Leaguefan, some of the players even though this is part time as you say do take it seriously and they look fit, they are fit and they are the right shape for their position. Their performance as a result is usually very good and more so consistent. Others dont seem to give a hoot. It is those players who are letting us down now and who could not possibly even think of playing a succesful part in NL1.
It was the first time I saw Brenden last last since he returned after everyones hard work and suport and it was embarrasing. So whilst the club were working hard getting hold of councillors, mps and embassey officials, he was clearly lying on a bed getting a silly tattoo and eating burgers. Was it really worth the cost and effort??? How much money could have been spent on other more usefull players??? Shouldn't really single him out but he is high profile given the effort getting him back.
Maybe and I suspect this is the case, Barry is well aware we are not good enough yet to beat Dewsbury so lets just use the remaining matches to get some of the less fit, less sharp players up to speed. It is unlikely that if we lose all four that we will fall out of the play off positions so lets use the games to get some players right. Shame to have to do that so late in the season but the evidence was there last night that we just can't stay organised and on the ball for 80 minutes against the best teams.
Worky should be easy, Rochdale will be a bit tough but lets see how the team does against some good opposition in Hunslet.

| Everyone is concentrating on forward power and coaching. I actually thought our forwards gave their all, but were no way as fit and strong as theirs. But from what I saw, our backs, who are supposed to be the best in the division, were not up to the task by a long way, and the tries given away by dropped balls on the final kick, or waiting for the ball to bounce, and coming out of the line too early and creating gaps for Dewsbury to exploit were the difference.
And standing behind our own try line in the second half and seeing the looks from our players at each other, they know it.
If you actually count handling errors as a percentage of passes or kicks received, who was at fault?
And the one man who criticises the coach? Was our best period when his plan was fresh in their minds? Well, actually, yes. Was our worst period when for whatever reason our players with very few exceptions decided moaning was better then concentration? Is that the coach's fault?
Or is that when the captain and senior players should be taking control of the team once they've crossed the whitewash?
