| If anybody else has watched this tonight does make you quite annoyed. Several players that have been caught using the same banned substance as Gaz Hock has, having only been banned for upto 7 months.
I thought it was the same anti doping in our sport as it is for every other sport. Its releasing names of high profile players that have been caught but not named, until now.
One player has gone on to say how some players are evading drug tests and how much it is involved in football.
Seems like football is too good of a sport to be named and shamed.

| They named a few O'Connor who played for Birmingham was the main one, although they had 19 'high profile' players on a list. Agree with the original post too, seems a joke the football players can get away with it. Rio being the main one.

| The Mirror are saying the programme makers claim at least 43 players have tested positive for recreational drugs. Can you remember 43 bans, because I can't. Rather than shake my head at football this story makes me proud to be a rugby league fan. Rigorous drugs testing and strict penalties. The RFL get plenty of stick but in this case you have to applaud them and their efforts.

Whether he was hiding something or not he got banned. What really ed me off was that athletics golden girl Christine Ohuruogu missed tests yet didn't receive a ban and is treated like a national hero. Dwayne Chambers was caught using performance enhancing substances and is still treated like a pariah.

In the mirror today it stated that football was signed up to WADA, but Gordon Taylor said that there was nothing in the WADA regulations to test for recreational drugs. The FA did this themselves and that is why the bans were shorter and handled quietly.
I'm sure that when Hock was banned people were stating a 2 year ban for recreational drug use was a WADA thing and that's why Hock was done for so long, compared to some footballers who have only been banned for 6-8 months.
Seems strange how WADA can say its a 2 year ban for some sports but not have anything for others? or is that Gordon Taylor just talking rubbish to pretend that football is above board?

And its a simple reason why. Football is a multi billion pound industry especially for advertisments and it will let players get away with things rather than sign up to WADA. If a major football star got caught the penalty for a club who might spend 20 million or more on him is 20 million down the pan. Football is not run by the FA but by multi national companies.
Gordon Taylor (AKA the Ostrich) is the biggest idiot in any sport i have seen. Rather have a discussion with Eddie and Stevo than here him bullsit us with how all footballers are clean. When we know they are not. Football is no longer a sport its about the MONEY.

| The worst thing is, footballers are getting paid silly amounts of money and even if their bans happened to be longer than they should be like the other sports including our own, the football players would still be able to live comfortably and then some whereas as a Rugby League player is screwed unless they find another area to work, and even then it's a struggle. It's ridiculous is football.
