I'd say that is a little inaccurate - at the moment, this signing is to replace Flannery. It's not certain that Puletua will be leaving yet, and I'd bet he doesn't go to Wire if he does leave.

He's good looking at stats and opinions don't watch much NRL but the point is that saints always moan at us about signing 30+ year old Aussies then do this so it's nice to know that if we sign anyone then saints are no longer in a position to moan about it. He's probably on less than graham too so could be quite a savvy signing tbh

Not exactly a spring chicken, but he'll do well for Saints.

I watch the NRL regular and he's a fantastic signing. It's just what we need. He was very sought after and saints pulled it out the bag. Leeds, hudds, NRL clubs all wanted him and titans are gutted he's gone.

My only concern is he'll be 31 when he arrives but at the moment he's showing no signs of being finished.

He's been injured but due back Monday night and 4 weeks earlier than he was expected to return.

I'd imagine he'll fill a role not unlike Phil Bailey did here - Saints are haemorrhaging experienced players at the minute so an older head with plenty experience to mentor their impressive crop of youngsters is probably what they need rather than a novice.

True, we do need few old heads to balance out the young lads that are coming thru.

I'd say he's a lot better player than Bailey but I see your point which is a very good one.

Interesting that the Titans have left a mentoring position open for him when he eventually returns to Australia, must be a real pro and role model. Exactly what Saints need really given the current situation of senior players leaving the club.

Should go well if he can adapt to living in the UK quickly.

I always reserve judjement on Aussie imports...we've had a real mixed bag as have most clubs. You get ...

The ones that 'need a year to settle in' ....then come good
The ones that 'need a year to settle in' ........and never ever come good
The ones that come over here with big reputations..and fail to deliver
The ones who get 'home sick' ....and bugger off early
The ones who are class and you count down the days til they go home hoping they'll extend their stay

I'm sure we can all think of example players to fit the bill for most categories.

Have to say I'm impressed with saints this year..missing a lot of players in key positions and playing real well. Your 'big' names are really standing up...I just wonder how long they can keep doing it with so many out.
