| that it's warrington in the final?
real question... people seem to have become very emotional about this cup final thing and i'm just wondering is it more personal due to the rivalry between the two clubs?
would you be as pee'd off if say castleford had beaten you on saturday?

| Personally I hate losing to Warrington but I'm a grown up and I was pretty much over it on Saturday night. We have this rivalry with Saints but they've been so far ahead of us in recent years that it's diluted it due to me expecting to lose. Obviously this makes it better when we win but those opportunities have been few and far between in recent years.
There does seem to be quite a vile rivalry between our 2 clubs sets of fans and it's one of the few games were there does seem to be isolated incidents of trouble. I'm not sure where this comes from because it doesn't really exist between Wigan and any other club.
I probably would have been more pee'd off if Cas had beet us due to them being crap.

Fair points tbh, it's just i get the feeling on here and the VT that certain wigan fans are very emotional about the whole thing still.
i think friday night should be a classic game that could go either way, just hope that a residue of anger is not present.
tbh i love the wind up and banter that flies arround pre and post match but really feel fans should focus on upcoming matches rather than the past!
oh i will join in with the wembley chants on friday, it's only right

God you're obsessed. Do you fancy me or something?
Lets get one thing straight. You will not find a single Wigan fan complaining about Warrington being in the final, in terms of how much they deserve it. You stuffed us, so therefore you clearly deserve it. That was never in question.
What you seem incapable of understanding, was that my topic was about the RFL's ability to sell the game to outsiders, not a whinge about Wigan not getting there. But that's for that thread, not this one.

| Hang on a minute, your all being very unfair to our Wire friend on here. He doesn't know what it's like to win a semi. We do we've won plenty!
As has been said by all, no one is bothered by Wire winning they were better by a long way and deserve to be at Wembley. If we're cheesed off it's the way our lot played, or didn't whichever way you look at it.

It's been like that for as long as I can remember, which surprises me, because apart from certain pockets like you get everywhere, Warrington is a reasonable area.
Warrington have, apart from a short spell in the 90s, always been our bogey team. We could not beat them for love nor money when I first got into the game, and the same has been true of late. The fiercest matches, for me, have never been the Wigan/Saints ones - they have been the Wigan/Warrington ones. They've been the closest games, they've been the dirtiest games, especially when people like Les Boyd and Paul Cullen played for them, and the results were never foregone conclusions. You can't say the same for Wigan/Saints Matches.
Then there's the Widnes situation. Warrington's traditional rivals have spent most of the last few years in the lower division, so who can Warrington hate now? Not St Helens, because they've been too good for them. No, they'll go for the team that they've half a chance of beating, and still have that 'aura' of being just that bit more well known than them. Winning as an underdog is a great feeling. Remember Murrayfield?
Irrespective of our current position as 'distinctly average', Wigan are still seen as the team everyone wants to stuff. People have long memories, and I've no doubt that people feel the same about St Helens and Leeds, and will do for the next 20 years, no matter how crap they become in that period.

Warrington games were the only ones my dad would never take me to, which is a shame, really.
I tell a lie. He wouldn't take me to St Helens games either, but that was more to do with the fact St Helens matches were p155 ups.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| I have become used to losing to saints and seeing them win things but wire is a different matter. It's not like they are going to match the success we have had in the super league era but for them to have a better season than us is painful to take.
