| Tomkins impressed me so much against Harlequins, that I'm sure he would have made the difference against Cas and Wakefield and we would be riding high in the table right now.
And it's not just hindsight...90% of posters on here would have had him in the 17 for those two games.
Had he not played against Quins we would not have won.
He may not be so crucial against Leeds and Saints but the above games were there for the taking. How frustrating!  |

Those games are lost now. Don't get me wrong I rate Sam highly but he's not God, he can't tackle for everyone.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league

Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate

the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever

We would of scored more points with him in the team and the difference was only afew in both the games. I slightly agree but I dont think you can blame Noble for not throwing him first game against Wakey.

That's why he won't make that much difference against top teams but he will improve Wigan.
We lost against Wakefield because our attack needed some spark. We lost against Cas because of inept tackling on our right hand side. Sam would have made the difference. He would have tipped the balance. |

I dread the day on here when Sam has a bad game/drops a ball/misses a tackle. He's a talented kid that's for sure but people are laying too much expectation on him for me. He seems the type that can handle it though which is a good thing. |

dont think even Darren Locker would of helped us win either game we were shocking in defence dont matter if you can score tries if you cant tackle your screwed |

be careful with sam.i remember a few years ago luke robinson was the next andy greg.he had a few bad games and people where on his back.let them develop as players without the added pressure of being the saviour of wigan rlfc

Had he not played against Quins we would not have won.
He may not be so crucial against Leeds and Saints but the above games were there for the taking. How frustrating! ![]()
He would have made a difference sure. Tim Smiths defense in those two games was appalling and Sam Tomkins would have made a difference in both attack and defense. But Tim Smith is not the sole reason the team lost. Certainly players have yet to perform to the standard expected of them, most noticeably senior players and some of the tactics and team selections from Brian Noble were baffling.
But as previously mentioned those games have been played and there is nothing we can do about it. There is no point in dwelling on it however disappointing it might be.
