You have someone else willing to buy the stadium and chippy.
Is this guy just stalling for his £££ or what? I can't seem to work out who he looks like more... Jabba the Hut or Baron Greenback.

Yes I know its the Sun but surely not?
EDIT - For those that do not wish to support The Sun by clicking the link see below:
Quote WIGAN’S potential new owners are willing to move GROUND to play at Leigh's Rugby League stadium.
The American takeover pair Randy Frankel and Michael Kalt are in talks about the shock switch of 'home' as they try to get a deal done to rescue the club from administration
Wigan's potential new owners want to leave the DW Stadium.
The change of address from Wigan's old DW Stadium ground would need approval by the EFL.
But it is already used by Manchester United in the WSL as well as Leigh in the rugby world.
This surprise idea has also been run past supporters groups and the local authorities and is now part of their plans for the future.
The group, advised and fronted by Frenchman Gauthier Ganaye, are unwilling to pay the £3 million asking price for the current stadium.
They have offered £500,001 for the football club and training ground.
But that was rejected by the administrators.
The admins are demanding the £3 million sum for the stadium to be paid too.
That figure covers their fees along with the creditors and legal costs.
Wigan rugby chief Ian Lenagan has been trying to buy the ground and become landlord rather than tenant and that is still in negotiation.
However the French-American team are unhappy with the rental terms he wants.
And they turned to Leigh's modern and compact ground as an alternative.

To be fair, there is more info imparted in that short article than there has been so far in all the administrators' endless, meandering monologues.

They want the club to go into liquidation and buy the stadium for a song. Or team up with IL and buy the stadium between us and share the running costs .Each club then pays for their own matches stewarding policing etc.
Lets face it the DW is a big white elephant for both clubs too big. But with proper management the facilities could be used more there are bars under the South and North stand then there is the West stand corporate lounges .All could be used for conferences weddings etc turn Sharpies into a night club or a hotel I believe there is a gym under the East stand.

| Would Latics even be allowed to play there? Thought there was rules against standing areas in stadiums unless it is the safe standing with the seats? Has to be said aswell The Sun seem to be the only news outlet currently reporting this so can't say i am convinced it's true.

They could afford to build and own the Leigh Sports Village with a independent company running it.
The same should have happen with the Stadium at Robin Park but for the Council making the the bad mistake of letting Whelan have all his own way, who then ending up selling it for a profit when most of the cost of its construction came from grants and a 14% share of the Council.
More brains in a rocking horse than what took place prior to 1999!

Be fine unless they got back into the Prem.
Brentford had terracing until last season when they moved and Wycombe will have.

Yeah! Why don't we move out of Wigan to a stadium that is smaller than our average attendance with no rail link? Can't believe we haven't done it already.

If nobody buys it I presume it’ll still be owned by the Chinese? Ultimately I think the Americans and Lenagan are both just holding out for as long as possible to try and get the stadium for nothing (or next to nothing). All parties seem to be seeing who’ll crack first.

| A few things to mull over regards the DW Stadium (bearing in mind its been suffering significant losses over the years) :
Naming rights, what's the going rate these days to name a stadium?
The annual dig up of the pitch - how much did this cost? At the point of being dug up every summer it looked in great condition, my point is did it actually need to be done every year? It's not been done this summer despite winter football being played on it for the most part.

| Do the annual DW stadium costs include such things as policing and staffing for Latics games? Both significant costs I would've thought and not something we'd be responsible for picking the tab up on if we owned the ground.
