Ladies & Gents,

It’s been a while since I last posted on here, but I was hoping I could canvass some help/guidance.

I’m currently working on a project to get some last minute exposure for the Challenge Cup Final in London.

My plan is to get posters up in various bars/leisure clubs across the swathe of NW London between Quins & Wembley advertising a competition to win a pair of tickets to the final (1 pair per pub/centre)
The competition will be simply a business card (or contact details) drop & draw with the lucky winners being notified on the 19th Aug, with tickets available for collection on the day.

Each of the pubs/landlords/centres helping out also gets a pair of tickets for personal or staff incentive/competition use. So that’s 4 tickets per pub/centre.

The idea is that if each participating venue gets us 100 business cards/contacts, if we manage 30 venues, then we can add 3000 potentially interested parties to the Quins/RFL/LondonRL database, with 60 lucky winners attending the final. Also the posters will help get the game a small amount of last minute exposure and possibly pick up some southern based ticket sales.

I’ve actually been treading the streets over the last 2 days and have managed to get into some pubs in Ealing (they’ve been very receptive) but the process is incredibly time consuming as the search for suitable venues isn’t easy. Ideally we’d want to go to sport friendly bars where the clientele might have a passing interest in the CCF and be willing to give up their details/try to win.

Hence my posting.

I’m mainly interested in areas near to the London Overland route that links Richmond with Wembley (Ealing, Acton, Willesden, Hampstead, Brondesbury, Kensal etc etc)

Would any of you
a)be able to point out possible pubs/centres that I could approach (to save me wandering the streets guessing…)
b)be able to help me out by delivering a poster/the idea to a friendly landlord?

I will happily travel to your workplace to deliver a poster or 2 if you think you can help. Also open to running this idea in other parts of London with good links to Wembley/Quins – the method in the madness being that if they enjoy the CCF, then they might commit to coming to the Stoop this/next season? Who knows – it’s worth a try!

I am on ady.spencer@rfl.uk.com if anyone would like to email me direct, or PM me here, or indeed feel free to post on here if relevant?

Thanks in advance to any who can help.

Ady

Ady,

excellent effort. Just the sort of slog that is required to get us on the radar.
It will be the small gains that add up over time, we will only get the big hits when (a) we win things and (b) have an owner with the millions to spend on advertising.

The CC has only a small impact on the London sporting community but more awareness may lead to more people watching, attending etc.

Keep up the good work

Thanks PP.

Some of you have been extremely kind to offer to put up the posters in your local boozers/clubs.

I'll be at the game on Saturday and will bring posters with me, so if you could hunt me down that would be great.

I'll need to make a disclaimer here that if you kindly help out, then please ensure that you don't take part in the competition as I can't afford this competition to 'cannabilise' sales of tickets - I hope that makes sense and you see it as fair.

In order to make this work as efficiently as possible, I'll need you to emphasise the following to landlords.....

1) we'll need to make the draw for the lucky winners on the 19th and get details back to me via email.
2) tickets will be available for collection at Wembley on the day.
3) we'll obviously want to collect all business cards for addition to the databases at Quins/RFL
4) I'll need full details for the pub, landlord, address, email and contact number from you.

Hope that's ok - please keep the requests coming and if you need my mobile number, PM me and I'll send it right back to you.
