agree a top 4 again would be great for us with an improvement in the play offs

talks of having cover in the team and huby being the biggest signing, cant argue with that either!

Yes, top 4 blah blah.

I'd like to see the club actually admit to being ambitious. They seem apologetic about their achievements, like they feels it's all a bit of a fraud and only Wigan, Leeds or Saints should be winning anything.

Just another top 4 finish is stagnation. It's been half a century since a Cup or Championship win. Too long.

They need to crack on. I'm bored with "good enough" and being a nice club.

Completely agree Steve! The most annoying thing I heard after last season was 'oh we finished 3rd' or 'well we beat Wigan' and 'look how far we have come'! We need to stop being the club that looks to our past and realise that we ARE contenders and we ARE a top 4 side and line our ambitions up to that! Which in my opinion should be GF winners or CC winners

To be fair if you read the article it states Top 4 is the 'minimum' target. No lack of ambition at all and I'd strongly argue that Top 4 in the new system would be a bigger achievement than finishing 3rd last season and would not represent stagnation at all.

This is what I reckon.

There are three proper trophies available to an SL club. The LLS, the Grand Final and the Cup. Three.

More than half the league is made up of makeweights like Hull KR and Wakefield. There are no more than five or six clubs that have a realistic chance of winning anything.

Three trophies. Six clubs, at the outside, that can win them.

That means, to just keep standing still, a club with a basic level of ambition should be winning a pot every other year.

We won the LLS in 2013 and nothing in 2014. It's a trophy winning year for mine.

I agree with this, no lack of ambition stating top 4 is minimum target. Obviously winning a trophy is the objective!

gets harder each season and more so with the new structure it will be this time.

the new gym is a plus, cudjoe could be back to his best and i think taai could be better than ever this time round with him being fitter and being ooc at the end of the season...like a few others, they always improve when contracts are up...no more lazyness!

post further down says robinson is shot, well we have ellis now?
grix will be pushed hard by murphy and connor.

people need to remember we are also punching above our weight with the attendances we get compared to the ones that are winning the trophies.

I think to finish in the top four at the end to get into the semis will be a massive achievement for us! Those games at the end of the year where every game will be a hard fought contest will show us where we really are. Wigan wire saints leeds ect week in week out without the restbite of playing a 'lesser side' difficult task for all!
I think our main job is playing our a game more consistently! In the last couple of seasons we seem to pla at the oppositions level! Have a massive game against a wigan or a leeds with a brilliant performance and effort then struggle against a widness or wakey side!

the one thing we need to differently from the previous seasons is to win games that matter! we still haven't learnt to win big games, without that we won't be bringing any silverware home

Whether Giant fans like it or not big and successful clubs are generally judged by achievements in winning cups and attracting big crowds. If these parameters are used Huddersfield Giants are already over achieving on a very large scale. Unless and until the public of Huddersfield show more than a passing interest in our great sport I am afraid its more of the same, no matter what a few diehards on here think.

I have read through this a fair few times And still it doesn't make any sense. It's a chicken and the egg question do the trophies come then the fans or visa versa?

We are not over achieving we are simply achieving! The talent on the field, the youth we have and signings are making are better. I don't see how it could just be us flooking into the top four spots for the last few seasons and regularly beating the better sides in the league.

What you could say is that our support is lacking and unless that is bolstered by double we will have issues funding a club the quality of ours in the long term unless another davey comes along in the next five years say. But rite now our team is getting better we are consistently finding ourselves in the upper reaches of the league! So if that's what you mean by more of the same then I will take it!

But are we? The only thing that really lets us down is the fan support. The fans we have are passionate bunch. While davey keeps plugging the money gaps we will be fine so the short period we are all good! Long term we either need another benefactor it huddersfield realise we have a brilliant squad with a club that's making good strides behind the sceane ie new facility's, full time academy!
So on what basis are we punching above our weight?
