| What an absolute joke but I think there's 3 parties to blame for this.
1st - The RFL - Let's be honest they wouldn't have ever wanted us in this competition, we're hardly seen as a glamour team are we! I'm pretty sure as soon as we raised our concerns about the competition they were already on the phone to Warrington. Could they have given us more time? Could they have even helped us finance it?
2nd - The fans - or should I say the lack of. Let's be honest the main concern would be money and the simple fact is that we don't have the income stream that the top clubs have. I just watched the Wigan documentary on Sky and they took 2,000 to Australia, we struggle to get 500 to an away game. I'm not sure how we can attract more fans maybe the people of Huddersfield aren't bothered.
3rd - The Club - In the end this comes down to the club. It's their job to attract the fans and keep the club financially healthy. The fact that they couldn't decide speaks volumes of how bad the management is. They knew there potentially was going to be a decision to be made and should have had a yes or no answer. I've thought for a while that Richard Thewlis should get out. Do we not have any spare money because of the Keith Mason case? who's fault was that? because the money we threw at that could have been used. Again, lack of ambition from the club for a second time this week.
One positive is that it won't be a distraction at the beginning of the season.

| If you ask me it's a silly idea anyway. I was intrigued by the headline "World Club Challenge to be expanded." But then it turns out that it isn't being expanded, in that the two new games are not actually part of the WCC, and are in fact just a pair of pre-season friendlies, happening after the season starts, paying a massive wedge of cash for the privilege.
As for selection criteria, it seems a bit of a shambles. It would have been simpler to say the places went to the two Grand Finalists and the CC winners. Only since we finally managed to win the CC this year, I'm not sure I'd be that keen. The concept gets less exciting the longer I think about it.
I guess the Giants already spend the full cap, so paying a player with the £175k isn't an option, but I doubt there are many clubs who would sniff at £175k to spend on infrastructure.

the whole thing is a joke, it's like charging a Burger stall £175k to be outside in the car park at a major final. Better off out of it, if Lancashire want a vanity project, leave them to it. (especially a vanity project organised by Hetherington)

| After losing to cats and reading the First Utility web site don't think we were ever in the shuffle for the World Cup series. When we lost to Cats we were out of the reckoning, Wire and Cats were in front of us. Says on the First Utility website "Super League will be represented by the 2014 Grand Finalists, plus the third highest ranked team from the Northern Hemisphere competition" meaning play offs, as I understand it, was Wire then Cats as they reached the semis then us and Leeds.

depends which way you look at it, everyone presumed it was giants who were the 3rd ranked team... i think we were asked and because we were unsure if we wanted to pay the 175k then the rfl moved to posts to suit them and gave it warrington
nothing from the club on it, which would help clear things up but hey
