Centurions Players to Visit Leigh East Post Match

Leigh Centurions players family’s and staff will take the short trip down Ledgard Avenue on Sunday after the post-match presentations following the Whitehaven game at LSV.

Football Director Derek Beaumont explained “We are trying to recreate the old Mick Martin bar atmosphere which was unique to Rugby League and Leigh Centurions in particular.

Rugby League is the only game in the world where players, spectators, sponsors and families can mix and enjoy the evening after a game”.

I know for a fact that our spectators are missing it and so are our players so we aim to be at Leigh East for roughly just after 6.00pm on Sunday and if the evening is successful we can do it every week and as summer arrives supply Karaoke for the adults, Bouncy Castles for the kids, BBQs and perhaps even repeat the post-match presentations from LSV.
It would be brilliant to see all the kids playing outside in summer and extending the match day experience for all concerned said Mr Beaumont."

Don't you have to be a member at Leigh East or has that stopped?

Do you think we would make a press announcement without having run it by Leigh East first?

Just to add to what Derek states in the release that will go to press tomorrow is that it is mandatory all players from the 18 man squad will attend without exception and will be on hand to sign shirts balls programmes indeed whatever you like!!!

We will be issuing a raffle ticket to everyone who attends and the man of the match will draw the winner who will receive 2 x touchdown tickets for North Wales game!!

Leigh East will always be special to be .
I've spent many evening s and Sundays there when James played there for 10 years .
My wedding evening reception was held there too.

Lynda, wasn't having a pop just think about it from my perspective, you have a team of people (BOM) running this club now and taking it forward with pretty much every professional business skill set any business's could ever need at the clubs disposal FOC. If the club had to employ us it would cost well over a million pounds per year for our management services alone.

Do you think before organising to take what will hopefully be a regular post match social event to Leigh East we would not have checked everyone can get in it with them first?

I will say it again it was a serious question as I wanted to see if you had posted without thinking or actually thought it was a valid question.

Great idea BTW It's a shame it can't be done at the LSV but Leigh East is a great place to recreate the old Mick Martyn bar..

It was a genuine question , no hidden agendas etc, and unless you'd been a member would you have even known that Leigh East used to ask people to be members when attending pre or post match as when we first moved in the stadium we all joined.

Seriously how many of you knew that ?

It was a genuine question - I used to be a member at Easts and you weren't allowed to use the facilities unless you were a member, so it's quite fair to ask if that is still the case.

Clearly, from your response, it isn't the case.

The club were hardly going to organise something at a venue if a majority of attendees would be refused entry.
