Good question. I personally don't think it should be seeing as 5 will be relegated. If the threat of relegation isn't enough to play for then I don't know what is.

Previously I've liked the idea of the bonus point but I would of prefered it to be where the losing team has to be with in 6 points of the winning side. Now with the new structure & everything to play for I think scrapping it wouldn't be a bad idea though.

According to League Express it'll be used in the Championship this season, then scrapped, But will be used in Championship 1 only after that. If I've read this right, then the points amassed during the 2x12 part of the season will count towards the 3x8 part of the season, which would seem to put the 4 bottom SL clubs at a disadvantage. Perhaps I've misunderstood it.

I personally don't think that it is fair for a team that has potentially won fewer games than a relegated one and stay up.

Neither is it fair for a team to be crowned champions from fourth. Or as in Widnes case being promoted from 5th
Personally I am looking forward to this new system. Exciting games for a bigger percentage of the season. Watching the odd 'big' side trying to avoid the bottom 4 of SL. If the best we can do is 5th in the middle eight league there is still a one off game against the 4th placed club. Let the games begin starting with relegation from SL. Also the battle to avoid finishing in the bottom 5 of the Championship this year. Here's hoping we don't have a humungous injury crisis. |

I presume it'll still be in place this year but no idea what's happening after the restructure. Personally I'd like to see it scrapped, don't think it's right that a club should be rewarded for loosing, plus regardless of bonus points any team should be wanting to keep it as close as possible, partly for pride but also in case a league position comes down to points difference.

Well Derek at least they have won games to win the playoffs. The Widnes thing stank to high heaven. I could never get my head around people on here saying that they deserved it as they were in the best position to be in SL. Boggles it does. The mind that is.
