As 'maurice' has apologised, I've completed the programme
and here's a flavour of what's in it: -
Chairman KEITH FREER deputises for CEO Trevor Barton, and explains what a monumental game this is for Leigh, and how much effort has gone into organising it.
Head Coach PAUL ROWLEY is delighted with the second successive victory over Halifax, and the way the lads stuck at it at Sheffield. He also gives us a feel for what Friday will be like for the players and himself.
JOHN DUFFY is suffering from a dislocated shoulder, so can’t write much! Instead he comments on his (and Stuart’s) Under 18’s Development squad’s first game. Dave Parkinson also reports on that game.
In addition, DAVE PARKINSON reports on the Halifax and Sheffield games, updates all his statistics and reports the tweets of fans and players. (or more specifically an increasingly vocal Martyn Ridyard!) He’s rested from the Visitors’ piece this week, because we don’t want him to suffer burn-out before the play-offs!
‘Love Rugby League’s’ TONY WILLIAMS states his case for not meddling with the Challenge Cup competition.
This week, NATHAN LAWRENSON has obtained an excellent interview with Rhinos’ Head Coach Brian McDermott. I have to say that, given the experiences with opposing coaches over the past couple of weeks, Brian’s attitude has been a refreshing change. Indeed, my dealings with Leeds Rhinos staff have shown what a professional, enthusiastic, and pleasant group they are. However, I hope we still stuff their team on Friday!
Director JOHN RODDY demonstrates how he has embraced the social media, and gives an insight into the entertainment for Friday evening.
MAURICE JONES & WAYNE KEEGAN endured a soaking to obtain the action shots from the Halifax thriller, and I’m indebted to the VARLEY PICTURE AGENCY for some of their archive shots. (It wasn’t easy to meet Richie Blackmore’s demands to publish something that made him look youthful AND handsome!) The agency also came up with an interesting old photo of Friday’s two opposing head coaches, together, on the pitch!
JOHN WILLIAMS and JONNY HINDLEY update us on Junior Centurion news, including the latest competition to design a new flag.
ALAN EDGE doffs his ‘Flat Cap’ to the RFL and broadcasters, for managing yet another fiasco, in their ‘P**s Up In A Brewery Cup’ competition, and reveals how already soaked spectators at the Halifax game, got even wetter, courtesy of Karl Harrison! He welcomes the Rhinos in his Editorial, and gives an insight into what may be needed, ‘behind the scenes’ to become a successful Sooper Dooper League team. Finally, he has penned the Visitors’ feature, paying particular attention to four Rhinos’ who share a remarkable record.
Conference Call is back, with Leigh Miners Rangers’ JEFF GORSE and Leigh East’s TERRY GORMAN. Terry reports on what has been happening at East, this past week, while Jeff reveals some painful truths about the ‘Masters’ game.
Former Rhino RICHIE BLACKMORE explains what the Challenge Cup means to him, and why it should never be changed.
Once again, there is the usual squad information, Lottery, Commercial and Touchdown news – and incredibly ‘The Centurion’ is still a snip at just £2.50.
Make sure to buy your copy good and early, so that you won’t be disappointed!
