| That incident last night when Mr Childs gave The frogs another pop at goal was an utter disgrace and something you won't see for another 10 years.
In fact the last time i saw one of those was around 1988 in a lancashire cup game at Hilton park v Saints,Phil Veivers complete with massive blonde perm scored in the corner as he looked up to celebrate to the fans Tony Cottrell ran in and kicked him, most unlike TC lol, he was offf course sent off and after the conversion a penalty was awarded, tht was jsutified but last nights incident was an embarrassment to the sport as was the ref.

| Donlan slid in feet first after the ball had been grounded. A little harsh and something that will go unpunished on countless occasions this season but the correct decision to the letter of the law. Don't think it was helped by the Catalans player delaying grounding the ball which I suspect was a bit of bait for Donlan that he fell for.

| Not much! as their player put the ball down Donlan brushed into him, no more than happens at 99% of games every week and nowt happens, basically Child decided to give em another chance to kick the goal!

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

The French player ( Blanche ) went over the line near the corner and was trying to get closer to the sticks , Stu Donlan had slipped and as Blanche was putting the ball down Donlan flicked out a leg to try to dislodge the ball
If you remember a few years back several players were sliding in with their legs to attempt to prevent players scoring , ie kicking the ball out of players hands , I seem to remember Billy Slater and Brent Webb attempting it , but what these players were doing was dangerous play and rptherefore the rules were brought in to stop it
What Stuart did was not dangerous and was totally different to what the rules were brought in for , however Mr Childs being the pedantic pillock he is applied the same rules , wrongly in my opinion , all that was needed was a word to Donlan

| I was just walking down the terrace and it happened just in front of me. Stuart hardly touched him but he did and it looked far worse than it was especially as the Cats players made a big thing of it. Could not believe it when he gave the penalty as he made no indication he was going to give it. I think it was an after thought because of what the Cats players had said to Childs. If that is the case then he should not be in charge of a U12s game.

| No, after he spoke to Donlan, the ref 'pointed' to the posts. Didn't realize it at the time, but he'd given the decision then.

| I thought it was really harsh. I think the time between Blanch putting the ball down and Donlan's leg coming out was a second or two at best. Whether or not it's an automatic penalty for sticking your leg out, I don't know. If it is then fair do's if not then he should have used a bit of common sense IMO.

| Think it's worth mentioning that Blanch took an age to put the ball down and was almost inviting a reaction from Donlan. Poor lad is obviously still bitter about the pastings he got from us when he played for the Smogs.

| Sorry guys, I saw it differently. The ball was grounded and the player straightened up and took another couple of steps before Donlan flicked out with his foot. It wasn't a shocker but it was well after the act of scoring and, I think, as perfect an example of an '8 point' try as you will see.

| Don't talk wet. I was no more than 10 feet away. I have seen try scorers knock into the advertising hoardings and nothing given. It was Childs giving the Cats a leg up.

If that's the case you should see a lot more 8 point try's this season then.

| The Watcher believes that Donlan was lucky not to be sent off & we got off lightly by just conceding the extra penelty.
