SIDDAL 40 V 6 LEIGH MINERS

Leigh miners dropped back down to fourth inth NCL after a 40-6 thrashing away at champions Siddal, The host had all the field position in the first twenty minutes getting a roll on and going forward strongly led by hooker Simeon Hoyle, Siddal opened the scoring close to the miners line after a simple crash ball they went over,the kick converted giving them a 6-0 lead.Siddal's second try come soon after a chip into the ingoal was grounded and converted giving the score 12-0.Miners worked hard to get back into the arm wrestle and going into the half time break miners felt confident they could turn it round in the second half after finishing the half strongly.

Miners started the second half strongly scoring in the first minute, Leon Brennan breaking down the right sending Ryan Smith in under the post, Tom Bradbury converting bringing the score to 12-6 for Siddal. With the game in the balance it could have gone either way but it was the champions who scored next increasing there lead to twelve leading 18-6.The gamebreaker come after a nice siddal grubber kick into the ingoal, miners seemed to think the ball was going dead but it was siddal who reacted quickest there young scrum half diving on the ball to score giving the home side a 24-6 lead and putting te game behond miners as the game reached the final quarter.Siddal scored three further tries to end the game with a commanding 40-6 victory.Although the game reflects an hammering it was a tight affair before siddal ran away with it near the end to move them back upto second in the table hot on the heels of leaders Leigh East.

Miners will have to regroup and quickly has they face two massive must win games before christmas with third place Wath Brow next week then a trip to rivals Leigh East the week after.
