| Todays performance and comments form mates and on other threads seriously threaten our club! We are poor at best and i fear that we may find this slide in performance very hard to stop. What is the answer though we have no money!
Look at the state of Bradfuds crowd last night as a result of bad performances week in week out, we don't have that many to start with so WHATS THE ANSWER???????????
I don't call individual players as we have what we have but surely we need some new blood ASAP!

| Relegation will kill us as a club, we will become a Swinton and relegation candidates is what we are.
Anyone putting a team together looks at 6,7,9,13,1.
We have a 1 playing at centre, a 6 stuck in Aus.
We have no running back rows, no centres and no size upfront.
We cant pass or step and have no pace or skill.
We must realise that SL snr academies are where to hunt players not our own.
We have shown great heart at Widnes and Fev, but heart doesnt draw fans in to be entertained, I fear for our future.

well, lets start there.........
when wigan were in trouble in '06, their fans rallied, as there was a possibility they might be relegated..
bradford fans have just given up on this season, and dont have any incentives to go anymore, since relegation has been scrapped
as for leigh, the style of play is not going to attract the casual supporter, the lack of committment today was shocking, and i think the likes of rudd etc should now be given their chance

| Bar Mort and maybe one or two others I'd drop the lot of them for Thursdays game and play the reserves!! At least they would show some pride in the shirt and commitment! I'd go as far to say that's the worst performance I've seen since we got beat by 90 odd off Workington in the early 90's!!

We would then see another 90 point massacre against us on tv.
In Rudd, Cookson Alstead
My Team
Donlan
Mort
Higson if Fit/Reay
Rudd
Alstead if Fit/Stanton
Rourke
Ridyard
Hill
Durbin
Morrison
Taylor
Armistead
McConnell
Cookson
Meekin
Marsh (2nd row, not ball playing)
Reay/Stanton
I would play at pace from PTB with short balls and offloads, spelling the front row to keep the tempo up.

| Durbin cannot feed quick enough from the PTB, his speed and accuracy in the process of passing is shocking. He is okay going forward but we have Jock and Stanton equally capable in that department. Get Hatton back from Blackpool now - no questions asked. Co0ky and Rudd HAVE to be given chances. Alstead MUST play if fit
Donlan
Mort
Rudd
Alstead
Stanton
Ridyard until we get someone else, if not then maybe Rourke is worth trying
Watson
Hill
Hatton
Morrison
Taylor
Armistead
Rourke/Reay
Cookson
Meekin
Higson
McConnell
Hobson(a prop always get injured but he looked pow fagged in Toulouse),Durbin(good addition if all else fails), Marsh(could go loose if Rourke/Reay unsuccessful - I shouted him before for 6 but admit now this was wrong)

1972.jpg Looking forward to next season already!

| Let us not forget though there would only have been two or three players who would have travelled so far for a game before. The different conditions too, a number of players struggled out there today so it must have been warmer there than what it is here.
Some of the handling errors that were made were pretty poor but I thought we got effort if misguided, our own mistakes contributed to our downfall and slow reactions didn't help. Toulouse will quickly move up the table with the shuntings they have given to us and Batley. Forget about that Widnes game at the start of the season for them, its taken them a few games to get up to speed while we are back to the win one, lose one ratio like we had last season.
Some variation needs to be added to our game though, a few dummy runners or switch passes, at times the team does appear to be pedestrian.

..... and I'll be standing in the Hilton Park stand, yes that's right I've named the North Stand myself: |

| Well the result looks disgraceful on paper but I don't know how it looked in person.
I think we've carried the 2nd half against Barrow into todays game. We keep saying the club has no money and if that is the case the current board should be looking for investment somewhere.
Somehow the club managed to pay Doran, TKL, and Moran last season to little effect on the overall finishing position of the club. That now looks like money wasted in hindsight.
We signed Donlan in the off season and then I was waiting for us to sign other guys and nothing happened. The club then seemed surprised when alot of us dont fork out for season tickets although they said they'd keep us updated with how many had been sold (and they didn't)... I mean what do they expect?
I'm very disilussioned with the club at present I've got to say.

| Investment in credit crunch times? Very difficult I'd imagine and even worse given that there is no promotion or relegation for 3 years.
Let's face it, we are a struggling team in financial terms, there aren't big pots of cash available and although I believe there is a signing coming, if we carry on getting gates of 1700 or lower when higher was budgeted for (2600), then there will be even less money to spend and this division is about money.
All I can say is thank goodness someone like Arthur Thomas is behind the club.
We've seen worse teams than the one currently representing the club and each member of that squad has my full support.
To have big signings you need big gates and this is where fans of teams like Wigan and Widnes are to be applauded, they do back their team.
If I knew what the answer was then I wouldn't be doing the job that I do.

Catch 22 Dave... you can't expect people to turn up when we're not winning or even playing attractive rugby especially when joe public is also struggling for cash. The fans have backed the club to the hilt for years but people get fed up after so many false dawns.
Other clubs aren't getting any better crowds than us but have recruited much better so something is wrong at the top of the club somewhere. There's got to be a balance between youth and experience and I don't think it's been struck as yet.
I wont accuse anyone of not trying because I'm sure they are but apart from the first 15 to 20 mins of the Barrow game we were pretty average at best. How we beat Widnes is an absolute mystery to me.

| DVDs of that game still available....at the best price in rugby league too.
I also wonder whether rugby league at our level is pricing itself out of the market.
It is catch 22 but even when we had a decent rugby playing side from 1999-2004 the crowds went down, okay there were lost Grand Finals etc and had we won at Gigg Lane who knows where we would have been now?

| Lets not go over board here people.
The conditions and everything about this fixture are stacked against any founder northern RL club. The result is exactly what I expected as our lads are just not prepared for the travel or environmental obstacles involved.
Lets see what the result is in the return fixture at LSV !
Hope all the fans who went out there (it looks like a good turn out) have a great time, despite the result, and lets look forward to Thurs night V Featherstone.
This squad has more young Leigh lads than I can remember and just give them time to learn. Hopefully we can get some good experience in but if not lets not give the lads flak. Lets give 'em some encouragement from the sidelines for a change.
If all the moaning in Leigh was turned into encouragement , we maybe could achieve our goals !!!!!!!!!!!

Well when you think you can watch SL for a similar price to what we are charging I'd have to agree with you.
People would simply rather spend their hard earned money being "entertained" which isn't something we're offering in spades at the moment. Think about it if your hooked on RL then you can go a few miles down the road and watch the most entertaining side in the world (Saints), and alot of people in Leigh are doing so from the amount of shirts and car stickers knocking about.
I'd never do that as I'm a Leigh diehard but I can see the appeal especially if you've got young kids who want to see the best players play.
