I was wondering if anybody knows what the financial rewards are that go with a Challenge Cup Final appearance at Wembley Stadium?

For example, there will be the increased prize money from the sponsors Engage, Television appearance money from the BBC, ticket sales, merchandise sales (eg. replica shirts, flags, hats, Wembley T-Shirts, DVD sales etc.). How are the gate receipts split between the RFL, the 2 finalists and Wembley Stadium? Then there will be the sponsorship money, surely a Challenge Cup Final appearance can bring in extra revenue from exisitng and potential new sponsors?

I wouldn't like to put a figure on it, but we must be talking 6 figures here?

Then should we win the Challenge Cup, all the spin off's from a cup win.

Think I remember Andy Gatcliffe saying somewhwere that it was worth over £250k last year

I remember one club's Chief Executive on GMR bemoaning the lack of effect reaching the Grand Final has due to there being less time to market it plus receiving less of a share of gate receipts.

There is only one club who could make a negative out of reaching the Grand Final.

I then sent an e-mail to ask him if he had also factored in the World Club challenge revenue. He hadn't, but then maybe he didn't expect to win the GF.

Last year the Club shop turned over £250,000 in a 4 day period. Weekly turnover has more than doubled since last years semi final. It just shows the impact that one bit of success can have.

You may also remember the rumours last year about all the 'Saints Wembley 2009' Tee shirts that had been printed. I wonder what they did with them?
