| Quote FearTheVee="FearTheVee"I have no idea why anyone would want Shaun Edwards as their coach. What top level RL coaching experience does he even have?
Would be a very Wire appointment. It didn’t even make sense when he was meant to be going to Wigan.'"
What coaching experience did he have in RU.
He didn't do too bad at that, did he.
We should have moved heaven an earth 20odd years ago, when DVDV went. Instead, we got Anderson.

| Burgess might turn out to be the best young coach in the game but he [iis[/i young and inexperienced.
Having some old heads around him who he trusts and can turn to is essential.
Plus we can just appoint them when we sack Burgess after we've lost the opening 10 games.

| Nobody on here can be certain whether this appointment will be successful or not. It's a roll of the dice for sure, but Burgess is staking a lot on this move so cannot doubt his commitment. He should also ensure we have a functional pack at the very least.

| At some point he is going to want a big job in the NRL so he is going to have to do well here for that.

I remember thinking at times that Steve Price (appointed aged 40) didn’t seem significantly older than some senior players and wondered if ultimately that may have been an issue.
Sam Burgess is 34 ... he may well have to lean on his status in the sport along with a mentor (or two), especially in the early days of his tenure.

| It doesn’t matter what experiences Slamming is as a coach, it’s about wether he can command the respect, that was obviously missing for DP.
If he commands that respect, the players will tear up bridges for him.
I keep harping back to Alex Ferguson.
He had an aura that players would work for him.
There isn’t anything Sam can be told about playing RL, he’s done it all at the highest level on the biggest stage.
He has forgotten more that most know. As I said, it’s just all about respect.

One name that hasn’t been mentioned or in connection with any RL jobs is Martin Gleeson - while we’re in the chance our arm hiring saloon - he might be a good shout as an attack coach.

| The merry go round starts. Long dismissed as coach of Featherstone.
He’s possibly on his way here.
Powell to Featherstone along with Blake Austin as Marquee if promoted.
