| Salford should be sanctioned for what they did yesterday.
Effectively, they were saying "you better approve this consortium, or else this is what you will get every week". It was a disgrace, and on the BBC too, a complete blight on a great season launch, and they are threatening to do the same next week if it isn't approved. There is no reason why they couldn't field a full strength side. Instead, to force the RFL hand, they threw the first game, are prepared to throw the second game, giving Saints a huge points difference advantage, and maybe Leeds next. Could be crucial at the season end and could, for example, be the difference between a team getting a top six slot and not doing so.
Sanctions should follow. A disgrace. It cheated the game, and every fan who shelled out their hard-earned to watch it.

| I’d throw them out now, expunge yesterday’s result and go with. ‘bye’ round for the rest of the season.
If Salford want to continue they can start again in League 1

| Salford's sense of entitlement was really something , not for one minute did they think that with the support they have received from the RFL that they were going to keep to their side of the deal .
This so called new investors are coming in game they've played so as to not release their top earners clearly didn't fool the RFL and although I'm no fan of the RFL they were well within their rights to enforce the salary cap agreement Salford signed up to yesterday evening .
The only downside to this was that it made an absolute mockery of the game live on the BBC which should have been a highly contested game .
As already pointed out Saints helped themselves to two very easy points which may not be available to the rest of us if Salford's finances improve and could impact on final positions in the table come September .
Salford can't be too far away from getting thrown out of Super League either and I can't say I'll have much sympathy either .

| Ridiculous decision to put it on TV by the BBC.
They should have switched the live coverage to our game.....
It was as if they'd have put (and not disrepect to Goole as they played their part in the Cup Game) us v Goole on TV.

Realistically they'd have had all the production and staffing sorted for weeks leading up to that, and Salford only announced their squad on Friday. I agree that it wasn't a great game to show even will full strength sides, but to do it at short notice probably wouldn't have been an option for them.
Agree with everything above though - it's appalling behaviour and Rowley coming out and trying to defend it has really sent him down in my estimation. It's teenage behaviour. He said he couldn't pick the same squad as against Midlands last week (basically his first team without Sneyd, Watkins, and Lafai) because "they had injuries". Why not just replace those injured players with reserves? You know, like every other team does through the season?
He picked that team because he's a baby who wants to force the RFL's hand and at least make someone look silly, even if it's rugby league as a whole, or the RFL. The same governing body that made a decision to advance them half a million quid. They didn't need to do that - they've taken a risk because they don't want Salford to go bust. Now the RFL have essentially asked them to cut their cloth so they don't go bust again, and all of a sudden Salford are the being hard done by?
I hope we smash them.

| Glad the sham of a club got hammered. Hope they continue to get hammered.
But, it’s not a good luck for the sport. Salfords seige mentality is a strange one considering all the help they’ve had from the wider sport and RFL.
I’m all for punishment for fielding that team. It devalues odds on things like top try scorers and betting (didn’t they suspend betting even?) etc. kicking them out is too strong but imo they should be deducted 2 points and a fine.
They will be out anyway come img scores this year.

| I would give them a 2 points deduction from their IMG score though not table points, would be funny if Salford lose out on sl next year due to finishing bottom of the league in points difference.

Salford at home is one of the games when I am over from Australia... So for purely selfish reasons I disagree with your proposal... Despite the appalling way in which the Salford club have behaved.

| This is the same club who fielded a team of reserves last year. I said then that they should have been docked points but everybody said 'it's a squad game now'. They seem to enjoy taking the p.

| Very hard to disagree with any comments above- in fact I totally agree with them. Sorry but they are not worthy of SL place.

| I still recall the time Salford managed to get a game called off during covid when they were due to play us with a number of suspensions/injuries. Miraculously, enough players were subject to close contacts that week which meant we had to play them when they had a much stronger line up, naturally we lost the game.
Playing the system is within the culture of the club, which is a shame because I am a fan of how they play the game.

It's actually not that difficult - the camera teams etc. are freelance now, and they could have easily been accomodated at Headingley - and bearing in mind, that some of the crews were already there producing it for Sky + (Yes, i know that was rubbish, but it would have been better...)

| In the unlikely event that they are found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, they should face a points deduction
if they cop a fine, what will they do? PUT IT ON THE TAB SAME AS ALWAYS.

Not really an option unless Leeds and Wakey agreed to change to a 17.30 kick-off . It goes deeper than just changing the game to cover , there are TV schedules to take into account as well .
BBC had planned a SL slot for 17.30 , and iirc this also included the CC draw at half time , making a switch to a 15.00 match unfeasible .
