as much of a saint that senior is how many offences have never got to the panel, not telling me he's never got away with high tackle over his squeaky clean career, going back to the chicken wing tackle if anyones got the DVD when woody last did his shoulder, that looked like a chicken wing tackle that got missed by the powers that be and how long was he out icon_cool.gif

i disagree with the panels verdict, Cunninghams actions were deliberate - he does it all the time. The only difference on this occassion is that it caused serious damage to his opponent.

On a similar note, Clint Newton led with his forearm right into Louis Anderson's mush on Saturday (in the build up to Newtons second try) Louis fell off the tackle and was replaced not long after.

The RFL need to stamp down on this leading with the arm/elbow business - its dangerous not to mention unfair especially when head high.

is taht the one that landerson had hurt his arm(carney style) in a previous tackle and was hiding behind the defensive line?

Quote: Warrington_Wolves_RLFC "My 1st email
Dear Sirs,
I cannot understand the RFL disciplinary committee’ recent decision to give Keiron Cunningham just a caution for striking an opponent and breaking his eye socket. Surely under the RFL rules this player should have been given the appropriate sentence as set out below. In my view he should have been sentenced between grade A and C. Firstly at the least he lashed out at an opponent (A-B) Failing that your decision is based on the fact that the player accidentally made contact with the players eye socket. Surely this comes into the category of being ‘Reckless’ a reasonable person would be able to consciously recognise that aiming a strike to the head of an opponent runs the risk of making contact with the eyes, nose, cheekbone, jaw or mouth. However I think the strike was intentional.
Looking at the guidelines and evidence in my view the player should have been charged with a category C offence.
Details of Charge / Reason for NF Player intentionally has a jab at the Wakefield player and as such is guilty of misconduct; however the Panel are giving him the benefit of the doubt that contact with the eye is accidental and as such consider that it is appropriate to deal with this matter by way of a caution

So Mr Cunningham didn’t know that Stosic had eye sockets on his face????

2.5 LAWS OF THE GAME
The Laws of the Game On Field Misconduct offences are15.1(a)
Trips, kicks or strikes another player
Strikes – punching
A-B
Reaction to opponent – lashing out

Strikes
B-C
Strikes with hand, arm or shoulder – reckless

Sorry for the rant but I just felt the decision to just issue a formal caution is unjustified and will certainly pave the way for more players to strike with the ball carrying arm.

RFL's response
Thank you for your recent email,

Keiron Cunningham was issued with a formal caution

I cannot believe their rationale in allowing the fat git to get away with this cowardly attack... '"Accidental" my ar$e!

Going forward, it sets a very dangerous precedent.

Thats the one. Even tho Anderson had clearly injured his arm in a previous tackle, he would still have effected a tackle on Newton had Newtons forearm not been lodged firmly in Andersons mush. It should have been a penalty to the Wire and therefore no try to Hull KR.

Sometimes RL gets caught up in the 'hero cant do no wrong syndrome'. For some reason Cunningham is held in such high regard and it seems he cant do no wrong. It was the same with Sculthorpe, who was one of the most cynically dirty players ive ever seen but always avoided punishment.

Can't he get that pompous sod Gaffa? I will never forget him giving the South Stand the hand job gesture a few years ago.

Quote: Natters "fair point i think.

aswell as Seniors excellent disciplinary record, there may have been some provocation from Wilkin that we weren't aware of. Senior did seem to take exception to something Wilkin had done or said - he was livid wasn't he.

and to be fair it was more of a slap than a punch, Wilkin went down like he had been shot by a sniper
What about Seniors previous record for this very same (almost identicle) offence when he punched Barrie Jon-Mathers?

It may well have been a few years since he was last up before the commitee but you can't ignore his previous.

Did it. I'm pretty sure it was revealed he didn't actually break his eye socket.
Quote: Natters "total bollox...what about cunninghams punch that put a wakey player out for a few weeks.nowt done claiming it was accidental that he hit him around the eye area...top teams get away with it more than the so called lesser teams..it stinks'"

Are you sure about that? Would that be the same James Stosic that played in the next Wakefield game against Castleford after the incident? The same James Stosic who, following the incident, has played in all but one of Wakefield's remaining games?

Cunningham's punch was ridiculous and frankly he should have recieved a 1-3 game ban IMO, but please get your facts straight first.
