Just thinking about this. There’s bound to be a positive effect initially; but when these prices become the accepted norn, who’s to say attendances won’t stagnate or even come down? It comes down to what the people, namely the relative locals, are willing to pay, or rather [iwant[/i to attend. To paraphrase Gus Rismante. Unfortunately, in the last 30 years, the highlights have been few and far between.
There’s another big problem the club has, and it’s something they can do nothing about. Salford, the city, has an identity problem. I don’t mean the past, the slums etc. I mean the age-old arguement: the distinction between Salford and Manchester. Salfordians use Manchester as their city centre. Salford needs its own, desirable city centre, desperately; but that’s a different argument.
