| Just for a bit of fun, who do you think are the biggest grubs in Super League? For those not familiar with the term 'grub' it is commonly used by the Aussies to describe players who give out cheap shots and generally dirty foul play.
Looking through my primrose and blue tinted glasses, I'd say Brent Webb for his niggling attention towards Ben Westwood, and Gareth Hock for his eye-gouging a couple of years back.

| I'll put this for the Hull FC fans - Travis Burns because he is a cheapshot merchant. Or the real reason, 'because he plays for Hull KR'

Thanks for that, in the past I'd say Ryan McGoldrick was pretty bad for cheap shots but seems to have calmed down a bit these days.

| Travis Burns is a cheap shot merchant, he almost defines ‘grub’ Clint Newton was the same, dirty, players who did dangerous and violent rather than niggly things.
Bailey and Ablett aren’t particularly dirty players, just forwards with a little bit of niggle in them the same as every forward in SL. I do love how Bailey can cause such an over-reaction to anything though.
The Rugby Gods sorted out Danny Mcguire apparently. 2 more SL rings to add to the 4 he already had and 2 more CC Final appearances since that night. Those Rugby Gods must be rewarding him for being such a bloody good guy!
Webb was always the dirtiest player at Leeds, didn’t do dangerous, violent things, like Hock just generally petty and needless, frustrating things. Richie Moore used to be a real lose cannon but has sorted himself out a lot. Lee Smith never minded getting his hands dirty at Leeds either.
Dudson and Luauki at Wigan are pretty dirty, Hock is just a moron. I never saw Elima as dirty, just someone who played the game very very hard and occasionally gets it wrong. Casty has a bit of a streak in him and Bousquet is too loose with his technique. Morley has always played on the edge too.

| Quote: SmokeyTA "Ablett '" Perhaps Ablett is a grub, but players like that are invaluable. He gets under the skin of the opposition. He's tough enough to put himself in harm's way and then keep his cool - just like the way he got Wardle sent off in the cup match.
A couple of years ago, when Maurie Fa'assavalu had just broken through and was a bit of a hot head, Ablet grabb his collar when he was on the floor and ragged it, possibly an interference penalty, but when Fa'as got up and started swinging, the penalty went to Leeds.

| Bailey is an odd one. I have seen matches where he seems immune to any sort of punishment when he has been late and high in the tackle.
There has also been instances where the ref seems destined to sin bin him or put him on report regardless of him making tackles cleanly.

I’ve no doubt Ablett would do that, but I would expect any forward worth his salt to be giving a little bit of that if they saw an opposition player get a little hot headed.
