"We just want the best referee" basically translates into "we just want our own referee as per usual".

They refused to play with a nuetral referee at the DW Stadium so we should refuse to play with an Australian referee in the final. We'd be far more within our rights to refuse an Australian ref against Australia then they were in refusing an nuetral ref.
