| Now the longest serving coach in SL for any one club (now that Noble has left Wigan)
That's some acheivement given the ups and downs of recent campaigns.
Or does this mean that he's next most likely for the axe?

| Yep I think he narrowly beats McDermott and Kear by a couple of months.
Matterson and Justin Morgan were appointed in 2005 I think but as MQBlank said they haven't been in SL all that time.
It is quite suprising given Bradfords fall from grace but is also a credit to the CEO (or whoever makes the decision) in keeping him on when results have been poor. Its often too easy to blame the coach while ignoring the bigger issues.

| Does this mean he should no longer be regarded as a rookie coach still learning his trade?

Indeed...
SM became coach of the Bulls on 20th of April 2006.
HKR were promoted to SL (after winning the National League 1 GF) at the end of the 2006 season.
(Note: Brain Noble has been employed as a SL Head Coach continuously since taking up his first appointment for the 2001 season)

He inherited a team in 2006 but IMO he actually started the following season and I agree some of his purchases and as far as we can tell his tactics were questionable. I' m not quite sure how to put this in words but as we know one or two bad results can really knock a team back. I think three seasons in charge now, Steve is, I hope getting the confidence and gaining the respect of his charges, whereas before I don't think he did.
It's going to be difficult for him especially with so many new faces but if we can carry on the good form from the end of last season and get three or four wins from the first games then I'm sure everything will click into place.
This is the make or break season for Mac

| Well, the friendly line up seems to be a sink or swim style baptism of fire for the new guys as it's 3 SL teams and only 1 NL1 team
but hopefully this will knock the lads into shape instead of knocking the wind out of them

| Next season is a fantastic opportunity for Macca to shine. He will have input, if he wishes to accept it, from top line players who have been coached by the best in Aus.
Menzies, Orford and Kearney could bring much to his tactical thinking, player preparation, training methods and professional attitude to a winning mentality.
These are attributes that our current assistant coaches could also gain from.
