Whilst a takeover, which would largely wipe out our financial predicament, would be the most welcome outcome in my opinion ( for reasons other than purely financial) We need to consider the impacts of who would actually be involved. I think it is quite obvious to all that CC left before a financial meltdown hit the club, except that it's taken much longer than he anticipated. He jumped ship having lit the blue touch paper which has resulted in this storm. I think his position, not just as Chairman but as a director, had become untenable. It's very unfortunate that he is still the majority shareholder and nobody should underestimate just how close his rampant ego (which is well known even beyond RL) came to destroying the club. Only he could think of attemtping such a triumphant return. He is a run of the mill solicitor, he is no business dragon, but he has always liked to think he is up there with the best of them. Parkin's motives for wanting to acquire the club were dubious to say the least and an alliance of him and CC seriously worries me. Also to consider is CC's position as a players agent. Surely the two roles are incompatible, if not officially, then morally. In brief - a great short-term solution but with a big long-term worry for me.

I'd doubt that Parkin had any real interest in the rugby club, I'd guess it's more likely a straight business interest in the potential money to be made from the ground. That possibility has disappeared since the RFL bought the principal lease, or at least, that is what we have been led to believe.

Splitting the ground from the club limits the possibility for someone to buy the club, move the club to VP & develop Odsal into a logistics/warehousing hub (with central location & motorway links).

On that point, the Odsal lease sale seems to be working as planned.
