This is Mike Denning (SPF Chairmans Blog)
Here it goes
DAY ONE
We all met at Liverpool Airport. Everybody in great spirits. Plane on Time and Ryanair gave us kind permission to board first and have our group photo taken in front of Plane. Good banter on way over and the Roomies where sorted. I thought I had drawn the short straw being paired with Thatto Heaths own Domino King (self appointed) Hugh Denning but Lee Jackson got John Kilgannon. Unlucky!
Upon arrival we alighted to what I thought was extreme heat from one of the engines. By the time I had reached the Terminal Building I was in a pool of Water and the Temp Gauge in Airport read 35 degrees. Ouch this is going to hurt.
After unloading at Hotel we all went together for a group meal and we where joined by Christophe Levy the General Manager of Catalan Dragons. A couple of glasses of wine and short speech from yours truly and an early night.
DAY TWO.
Bags down at reception for 5.30, breakfast at 6.00 and on road for 7.00am. A few late stragglers were duly fined by the fines master Chris Smith.
The first days ride was to go from Stade Gilbert to Carcassonne. 68 miles. Didn't start to well as the Sat Nav didn't pick up stadium and what should have taken 10 minutes was more like 30. After pictures at Catalans Ground we headed for Carcassonne. The scenery was breathtaking but the first day was extremely tough. The heat of the day was highest around 2.00pm at approximately 42 degrees. The heat coupled with some further errors on directions and three credible climbs resulted in a finish at around 3.30 and 81 miles achieved. Everybody home safe. A very quiet night in a lovely City.
DAY TWO
The alarm went at 5.00am. I tried to launch it and my snoring father through the window. I felt like I had been hit by Big Maurie> Not a bone was not aching or muscle sore to touch. Breakfast at 6.00 am on day two started a little later than planned at 6.45 with a 98 mile trip to Montauban. We had spilt into three groups today to make managing the support easier. Chris Joynt assisted with Group Three and did a tremendous job in bringing everybody home. 6 Hours 20 minutes in the saddle. I am standing up as I type this. I believe at this stage even Bob Hope wouldn't have done this for Charity!
Off for Dinner now. Mountain Climbing tomorrow over 65 miles. Oh Joy!

| DAY THREE Chairmans Log

DAY FOUR
Montauban to Sarlat La Caneda 75.3 Miles
Another tough day in the saddle. 6.45am start. I was sent off with my group consisting of Chris Smith, Jimmy Rothwell, Chris Joynt, Steve Prescott, Barry Ford and Richard Blowman. My fellow athletes helped me over the Mountains today in temperatures which only mad men would be out in. 44 Degrees at worst. This was by far the toughest day so far with the Climbing and heat but everybody returned home safe if not a little saddle sore.
At this point I do feel like half man half Bike.
Preccy is in good form and the Team work is fantastic.
Here are some facts and reasons why you should be supporting our cause!
We have climbed over 24,000 foot in 4 days and used over 6,000 calories on a daily basis.

| Fantastic effort by all concerned. Well done to all the lads.
The BBC even showed a bit of the arrival live! (It's always a bit of a shock when the BBC show something to do with RL live ...)
