Its ok saying he made the top 4 each time barring the one time where he struggled with a large sqaud but he his poor and cant even get us fired up for a big game against Fev. The effort was poor in pre seson, Dicapline is the worst ever, Senior players (grix and Muzza) look more unfit and over weight than ever.

Rowley is currentley free and will get this team fireing with a few players been changed.

Something needs to change,yesterday was unacceptable.I stated in pre-season that we'd kept around 6 we needed to upgrade and now we're stuck with them....

One year too many for me. Too stubborn, a poor man manager, and too loyal to certain players that should have been moved on when everyone was advising him of that. He has now ended up with a large squad that he will once again struggle with but most fans will be happy again when we more than likely make the top 5.

We have two recognised experienced props and a overload of second rowers covering both positions and we wonder why we get rolled.
As before, Callahane, Original Tangata, cover from Maher, Baldwinson etc not replaced and Morris / Jones progress on hold that’s the reason.

Talking about the second row, Chester Butler finally gets his chance and has a stand out season in the second row only to be asked to play in the centres to accomondate the recruitment choices.

Same person that thinks and openly says we have one of The best half back pairings in the league...I've said it for a couple of years now that RM is clueless and out if his depth. He cant see the obvious areas the squads is lacking in and won't listen to anyone. Even Stevie Wonder would be able to see what we need. I keep saying it but as a team we haven't developed or evolved in 5 years and he hasn't improved or revamped the squad at all. In fact when he goes the new coach inherits an aging squad in desperate need of an overhaul. Time to go but alas we can't afford to bring anyone in or pay him off....

I can guess no one will so please tell the club how they can buy the players you want and then we can sign Wayne Bennett to coach them.

Totally agree,it’s been said before a ball was kicked how well Fax were going to fare this season, one Joker even had the audacity to say Fax , Fev , and Bradford will beat the likes of Leigh and such teams, are they sure now?No team has a right to win, victories have to be earned.But 4 Games in,a bit harsh.

Our next coaches are already at the club.

Aside from that how does the club go about signing the players we need? Well for a start not buying players for positions we are already well equipped in would be as good a place to start as any.

Im sure Fax will be Leigh this season.

I'm one of 'you lot' and I can assure you I have already put my hands in my pockets and pulled a fair bit out to support the club. As for the players I want mostly, I would say, they are already here. The squad can always be improved of course, but the one we have assembled is more than good enough for success this season.Up The Fax!

I agree with you to a certain degree our record is the same as last year W2L2 but we seem miles off the pace with the same faults every year every coach has a "Shelf Life" as others have alluded to our next coaches are in place.
btw if you watch Upton arlfc i have probably seen you @ my local club Doncaster Toll Bar ARLFC.

The two potential coaches at the club can not even get them selves fit for the season so a no from me fresh blood and experienced coach required. The squad is good enough glimpses shown first 10 against batley and 20 miniuntes against leigh. A decent coach will have that for 80 mins

Everyone knows the forwards set the platform so if you need a prop sign a prop if you need 2 then sign 2, then you won’t be admitting you got rolled over, RM’s words as well as mine, please don’t tell me we couldn’t see it coming.
Once your pack is in place get halves who can consistently pose a threat in attack so don’t re sign / retain players who haven’t done.
It’s the same money being better spent.

Even with what we have it’s not blood being asked for just better than rank discipline would be a good place to start.
Apparently according to RM now down to technique and experienced rugby players not being able tackle properly!!

No one is advocating Boom or Bust that’s just a straw man line of thought and doesn’t exist in those from the terraces.

Only those in charge at the club can bring that about and in fact even unitentially are more likely to do so if they get it wrong in the first place and then have to go out and spend more to fix it.

In all the above whether it’s player retention / recruitment / discipline it’s about making the right choices and more like Brain and Gain to me.

From a neutral point of view one of the problems Fax have faced with squad selection in recent years is one that faces most Championship clubs - what do you do about the players that have some very positive attributes, but also some glaring weaknesses.

You have a few of these guys.
Murrell is the obvious one. He is still a player who concerns the opposition because of his footballing brain, and Fax seem to struggle when he leaves the field or plays poorly, but the legs have never managed to match strides with the brain.

Benny Kaye - great team guy, strong defensively, but he's never going to scare defences.

Tyrer - Prolific goal kicker and a major threat in the air on crossfield kicks, but his winger is never going to get hatfuls of tries.

Saltonstall - Good going forward, wins penalties, but a bit, well, flakey.

Even QLT. Massive threat with ball in hand, but his 2 goal-line tackling attempts for King & Lockwood's tries on Sunday highlighted his defensive frailties.

There's a few others, I'm not picking on Fax because every Championship team (bar Toronto) has the same issues. At Fev recently Ian Hardman was a similar case - safe as houses under the high ball and a strong tackler especially near the goal line, but offered little in attack in his last few years. Thacks as well...overall a really good half back at this level but a couple of obvious weaknesses.

Fev seem to make sweeping changes most years, Fax seem to keep the core of the squad and make the odd change here and there. Some years it has worked out better for you guys than us, including last year...there's something to be said for keeping a team together. You could argue it either way.

Same goes for the Halifax approach to pre-season...you seem to start off slow every year and almost accept you are going to lose games early. But then again you have finished strong most years. The only thing I would say about that is it seems to suck the life and enthusiasm out of the fan base. A few months ago Fax were euphoric after making the middle 8s, Fev were struggling to raise a team in the Shield and then 75% of our players were released. Things can change very quickly in rugby league - after we lost at Leigh last week a couple of people were already starting to question Ryan Carr 3 games into his career as Fev coach! - and am sure there will be plenty more twists and turns as the season goes on.
