12-14 down and loads of time left. We struggle in attack but have a decent defence. A penalty almost under the posts and we're back level, get the ball back and a set of six from the k.o. What would you do? To me everytime I'd take the two. Fax run the ball and a few minutes later the score is 12-20 and we're down to 12 men, game over. Who's decision was that? I bet Fev we're thinking Christmas had come early, they were never going to let the lead slip from then. We huffed and puffed but again unforced mistakes cost us and that game was there for the taking. If only we had performed to half the standard of our HKR or Warrington displays we would be £50,000 to the good today. If we want to improve next season I think we need some big changes at the club. The question is do we have the ambition to take the next step or are we happy just to be also rans again?

I liked running it, I thought Fev looked tired and would be interested to see what happened when Scott thought he scored if thats the same run of play.

Ambition is fine but where does the money come from? Probably needs about 1M extra to get to London's level which is not even good enough.

If anyone should have taken the 2 this weekend it was Catalans.

We took the two on Sunday to put us 28-10 up. Batley kicked off, recovered the ball and scored first tackle. That started a spell of success for Batley which led to us hanging on to a 28-26 thrashing.

Might have won by 16 had we not given them that chance to get back in the game. Who knows?

As we have struggled to score all season surely we should take every opportunity offered its history now onwards & upwards

I agree with Hudds Shay ref ambition. It doesn't have to cost, it's your approach and state of mind on how the club runs its business and what you aim to do . One club this year to me has shown the route ie Wakefield. PLayers picked up at basement prices moulded around old heads and a sprinkling of new. John Kear like Powell can spot a good player a country mile off, particularly backs.
Perhaps if we can forge more of a working partnership with Wakefield and Kear / Chester the opportunities could be greater than just a loan player scenario. Carter, Kear and Chester are certainly forming an effective management team demonstrating how to run a club without breaking the bank. There is no reason why a Moore , Marshall , Grix couldn't form just as strong a team.

I agree with you but I would like to see us with Cas. I rate Powell very highly and think the link would be good for us.

On taking 2 - would you take a try from every 2 forages into the opposition 20? Of course you would. So why not take 2 points on those 2 times and equal a try? Take 2 every time and get the ball back....
On the team - more talent comes through Halifax/Calderdale than most other areas. There has to be a way that that talent develops through the club. Siddal 15's this year have been the best - if not ever - squad of any team. Not one has had anything to do with Halifax RLFC. This must change if Halifax want to be anything other than a mid-championship team.
