Financial worries surrounding the Reds appear to have been confirmed by news of a £1m loan from Salford Council, which the club must pay back at a rate of £50,000 every three months until March 2017.

| Sounds a very messy situation, I don't think having Sale Sharks sharing the ground will do them any favours either, I know Stockport County fans are glad to see the back of them, despite them owning Edgely Park still
But "Rugby League is thriving" Eddie Hemmings said it himself on Boots n All, and the RFL remind us every few months
I think Salford will really be in trouble if Jarrad Sammut leaves Bradford and goes there, he's carrying some sort of curse!

And to top it off, Sale have just bought the naming rights to the stadium!

| Wilko puts a slightly different slant on things ......................
rlhttps://www.reds.co.uk/rugby-news/message-from-the-chairmanrl
"The club is going through major changes behind the scenes, and while we may not have communicated them to our supporters yet, confidence is growing that we are getting the recipe right, and that the foundations are being laid to take Salford City Reds forward, and at pace, with a goal to be challenging for all major honours by the end of a five year period.............................Actions will speak louder than words here, and is our intent that our actions will grow to become deafening over the next few months and years. Next year we intend to comprehensively confound any expectations for us to fail, and believe we have the plans and strategies in place now to achieve that. We believe that good times are very much around the corner now and we hope that you will be with us for the beginning of the next chapter for Salford City Reds in 2013".
Their rent has been halved from £750k though but still, they're going to struggle. They're certainly not going to challenge for any honours whatsoever. Survival has to be their target. Don't BS the fans, they've had a bellyful by the looks of it.

| So Salford moved into a new stadium having to pay £750k in rent. 14 home games a year that's more than £50k per game !!!!! Reduced to £375k when Sale moved in - that's still £25k per game . Going on what their crowds were at the willows somebody was being remarkably optimistic that the could finance the move. Absolutely crazy.

| can't see Salford being supported by SL - don't bring much to the table and Manchester is dominated by football completely - would expect some other financial wobblies at other clubs being announced with no gate income - the problem for salford is that with such a high rent, they won't be viable in the Championship either

| Nigel Wood and Ralph Rimmer helped destroy the clubs they were at in Halifax and Sheffield. Both have had to suffer greatly thanks to these 2 fools. Now the rest of the game is going through a dangerous phase with these two bellends causing massive upheavels that could destroy or even see some clubs gone forever. Wood and Rimmer have to go and the member clubs should call an emergency meeting over the state of the game and how its being run by these 2 and others. The whole thing is a total disgrace and its not just fans but players and board directors at clubs that are very concerned. Come on clubs call time on these two before its too late.

| Wood is like the captain of the Titanic, soembody needs to get rid of him before rugby league goes full tilt in to the iceberg.
Or maybe he is the iceberg, whichever it's only gonna end in tears.

| Think moving grounds tends to weed out the weaker clubs very quickly, not sure rimmer and wood are responsible for the willows becoming obsolete!

| I think it is important to keep Salford in rugby league, when I used to go watch a rugby league game as a neutral supporter I would always try and see a game with Salford in it; I would stand and chat with their supporters. Whenever they scored a flask of whisky was passed around. I think this is more important than a team that went bust because they effectively bought an iconic status that they cannot afford.

Its important we try save all RL clubs especially those with a long history, nobody should get preferential tratment though which is what hacks us off with Bradford and how they were treated compared to say wakey when they went bust the other year.

| I agree, I was being a little Tongue in cheek. The treatment of all clubs should be equal. The Bradford thing just drives a point home that the RFL does not see the whole picture just the tunnelled vision view through their rose tinted spectacles.

The irony is - The Willows generated more cash than Sale's stadium does. The clubhouse was a real money spinner for them and now that vital source of income has gone and been replaced with spiralling costs. All this for the purpose of having a lovely stadium fit for SL. Sale's stadium is neat and tidy but it will ultimately destroy Salford.
