I have an original post card from 1907 with a halifax team on it. The match was (Buckley,s Benefit) veterans match on Good Friday March 29th 1907.
The teams was, S.Foster, A.Smith, G.Scholefield, T.Morley, J.Knowles, E.Jones, G.Miller, A.J.East (capt), T.Watson, E.Abby, O.Fletcher, F.Firth, O.Clegg, D.Welsh, A.Toothill and W.H.Keeping.
Also in the photo are J.Dodd, E.Buckley, E.Jones, G.A.Scholefield, H.Turner, T.Kitchen and P.Farrar Sec.
Can any of you tell me if this is Halifax RL of Halifax FC. If it is Halifax RL
1. who did we play ??
2. on that day and the score ??
Any help would be great. Thank-you.

None of those names appear in the Fax 1907 Championship Final side v Oldham so i think it will be football

FC Town/ Town AFC... you know what I mean! It appears Halifax Town football club didn't exist in any form in 1907. I am, however, no expert as the pedantic Brew highlighted. |

This was a Testimonial Match for Edmund Buckley, a former Halifax player. It was played between Halifax Veterans (i.e. former players) and Bradford Veterans. I don't have a record of the result, but I don't think it mattered much - some of the players were very old, so it wouldn't have been too serious a match. There was a programme printed for the match, only the second one Halifax had ever issued. Clubs didn't usually print match programmes at this time.
