Am I missing something? I thought a drop goal had to firstly hit the ground then be kicked? The one on Saturday was kicked on the full. I searched the interweb and came up with this

". A goal shall be scored by a player when the whole of the ball during flight passes over the opponents' cross-bar between the uprights in a direction towards the opponents' dead-ball line after being kicked by the player in any one of the following circumstances(2) by dropping the ball from the hands and kicking it as it rebounds from the ground (i.e., a drop kick).
(b) From a drop kick during play, and
(c) After a try has been scored by the player's side by placing the ball on the ground in the field of play at any point on the line drawn parallel to the touch line and through the point at which the try was scored, and kicking it.

When a kick at goal is being taken after a try has been scored the opponents shall retire behind their own goal line or stand outside the field of play. "

sherwin slipped as well when he kicked it so no point in complaning about it but to me it looked like a drop goal.

Not complaining, just checking. This was one of the only bits shown on BBC on Sunday and I paused it and re-wound it. The ball never hit the floor. It looked to me like he was just kicking downfield and as he slipped the ball went over the posts.

Looked alright to me.

No, that is a standard drop goal. The ball hits the floor and is kicked between the posts.

Saturdays was a clear punt, with the ball not hitting the floor, in my opinion.

It looked OK in real time...a bit too good! I think we should let it lie now all this talk about golden point and now whether the drop goal was legitimate.

It looked OK to Ganson and that's all that realy matters and whats done is done although I do realy feel for the Halifax team & supporters that it ended the way it did

Like I said at the beginning I have no sour grapes whatsoever, the evening was a fantastic evening, the atmosphere was superb the excitement was second to none and the boys did themselves and the rest of us proud.

It was merely an observation from the game on the evening and from the smattering of highlights shown on Sundays BBC programme.
