| Well if there's one thing about the forum, Clayton has wound the shaymen up . Funny how even when answering questions directly it still gets twisted to their narrative. Like he said why should he make the footballs perspective public thats bosomworth job.

Yeah this was a strange one as early on he kind of insinuated that it was pretty much a done deal and mentioned the discussions around the main fears of Town fans that they won't be allowed promotion to the EFL, later on he back tracked slightly and he talked about it not been a done deal and that there are maybe 3 offers on the table. I don't know if it was a slip of the tongue but there appears to be an offer on the table that is directly linked to Fax although he was very coy about it and again seemed to be pushing the Davy bid.

| Unlikely he planned it this way but often when teaching, giving instructions or information the most important things are left until last.
For clarity on the KD option so there was no confusion in what had been said he concluded by stressing multiple times that at this stage that’s all it was an option.
If the KD option is chosen Clayton mentioned that whilst it would be good for everyone it would be the Giants and FC Town who actually needed the upgrades rather than Fax.
The Giants need them for IMG points and Super League and FC Town need them for promotion.
The Giants side is pretty much cut and dry but from a Town perspective it looks like there is still some confusion and possibly a conflict of information / interests over the number of teams that are allowed to share the ground under the EFL rules that have been posted here on the Shay thread and elsewhere.
For Town, on the one hand to gain promotion for example the pitch would need upgrading but without Davy neither Town and or Fax could afford the extra £300 grand shortfall from the grants.
So you have a situation where Fax are okay either way and if Davy buys it and does the upgrades, Giants are okay and Town are okay on the type of pitch etc but could fall fowl over the number of teams using it!
Quite rightly the prerogative to sort this particular problem out rests with Bosomworth and FC Town, it’s a football issue not a rugby one which is what Clayton said.
I’m sure the Town fans wouldn’t be happy if Fax were to interfere with things that fell outside there jurisdiction.
Connecting the dots what I did find interesting was when asked about the loans from Davy to the clubs should he be successful Clayton seemed to infer that since Fax don’t actually need the improvements when the Giants and Town do, Fax could stress that reason to avoid having a loan with Davy just absorbing the 100k mentioned.
Interesting and meaningful few weeks ahead.

| It was always my understanding that a bid was coming from fax but then davy came in from a leftfield position ( it is my guess that a conversation may have happened between one of the orox brothers who davy knows through the forget me not charity ) Last year when I was repeatedly kicked off the shaymen forum by nobbie it was because I knew we were interested in the stadium has I was getting first and second hand information from 2 out of 3 guys up on the stage at the forum. The reason why the davy option is more appealing is time and finances related, if our people did it it would take longer maybe a few years whereas davy will have it up n running in a season. Ultimately nobody knows what will happen in the future but I can understand the appeal but also the caution.

The appeal is obvious. The caution is very much understandable.

Interesting like you say, the cringe part with the talk of a moral high ground seemed a little excessive but I get what Clayton was saying in regards to the pitch but there is a problem around that. If the council sell the ground to Davy with Fax refusing to invest anything then Davy could very easily either use the current rolling contract to increase rent. Ultimatley Fax will have very little say in the councils decision but the hardball approach seems a risky road to go down with someone who could go on to be the clubs new landlord.

Don’t think Fax are playing hard ball, it looked like the opposite and were more than keen for it to happen and as I’ve said before this situation is being forced on us, the council are wanting to sell it’s not us wanting to buy so someone will likely become the new owner / landlord with the same unavoidable risks involved whoever it is but they will need to get the balance right in not pricing themselves out of some income by charging an amount that can’t be paid and forcing us out.
(Interesting side point on shared ground rent, where Davy is concerned with the Giants and Huddersfield Town I believe he thought the football club should be paying more because they used it more so another small insight into his way of thinking that might work in our favour.)
To say at this stage from what he said or hinted at that Fax are refusing to contribute resulting in Davy increasing the rent etc is a bit imaginative and premature as he’s not got it yet and the exact amount of any loans and repayment terms are unknown at the moment but if it gets to that stage just to try that approach and possibly tie it in with the disruption factor compensation which is something else that weighs heavily in our favour with us being the most affected and see where it went, who wouldn’t want to save paying around 100 grand?
My biggest cringe / chuckle moment was when RD was answering the recruitment question which I thought shouldn’t be hard since we aren’t doing any and he just mumbled on a bit with a few u r’s and DR’s, last year with Leeds before quickly giving the mike back.

I would love to be a fly on the wall if Aston ever found out he called Sheffields ground a hole.

This is one of my hopes that if Davy takes over we will see a change in the lopsided rent. I know Fax do through choice get more use of some facilities but I gave a breakdown on the Town forum of how much more use Town get out of the pitch and it is a wonder that it is equal rent(que jokes from Town fans about non payment).
I know its a bit unlikely but it would be hillarious to see the meltdown if Fax saw a reduction in rent and town saw an increase.

Someone once did a breakdown between football and rugby league and included.
Length and number of games in the seasons. League & cup. Football more.
Length of time of each game. Football longer. 90 against 80.
Number of players on the pitch during each game. Rugby more 13 against 11.
Can’t remember the exact percentages but football used it more, however whichever way it was calculated as far as FC Town were concerned Fax were the usual squatters etc etc were to blame for damaging the pitch and everything else and should be kicked out.
Apart from that tripe you’ve also hit on something else that could be realised if Davy gets in and that’s development and use of the facilities.
He’s mentioned it could be called The Calderdale Stadium with other activities and income streams beyond rugby and football and after his love of rugby he’s obviously got a business head and you would expect he won’t just be relying on those two sports.
