It has been quiet on this forum for some weeks now and I am wondering where your fixture this weekend is being played? I understand that you are playing little hulton.
After last weeks disappointment as one player thought he was the best player on the field resulted in the team losing I am hoping to see a better TEAM performance. Last week there was some excellent individual play and some excellent team work on show but as said before one individual thought he was better than he is. Attacking wise the player dismissed does look strong but his defence is very poor and better teams will exploit his lack of awareness in defence as he either jumps off the line or stands still, either way he leaves gaps. Your front row worked tirelessly though your 8 was off for a lengthy period. The 9, 10 and 11 linked up well and caused problems in attack and led by example in defence. Your 6 and 7 controlled and directed the back line well throughout as the forwards laid a good platform for them to work behind. The fullback is quick and could do with following his props looking for the chance of any off loads.
I will look forward to watching tomorrow if I manage to get to see you, either way will there be regular match reports?

Well that was a marked improvement on last weeks game in terms of playing as a team for 80 minutes.

I arrived 10 minutes late but was glad to see how the team took control of the game in the first half and then held their own in the second half, though the referee did start punishing you for minor infringements.

Should have been a bigger win margin as you were in control but just lacked some coordination/structure in attack and defence at times but you deserved the victory and this week you held onto it.

You seem to rotate your playing squad from week to week as I noted some players who played well last week didnt feature this week and vice versa. It is amateur rugby so I suspect work etc is the reason why.

well done again.

I am under the impression that write ups have been done for the previous games and will be going on the pitchero website this week.

Cheers for continually coming to show your support, the lads appreciate your comments/observations. I know the lads were all gutted with the result a week ago and wanted to put it right in the game against little hulton... the first half the intensity was excellent in attack and defence, but we let them back into the game in the second half. A few of the boys felt like the ref let them back into the game, however I dont think we helped ourselves.. we gave away some cheap penalties and there was a few sloppy handling errors that could have cost us more points.... we should have been 30 points up at half time but didnt get the bounce of the ball on a couple of occasions but thats the way it goes... we managed to pick up the two points so we are all happy campers!!

back to putting a big effort in in training tomorrow night ready for a big game this weekend

Only just seen this thread, cheers for coming down again!

The rotation isn't by choice! Three of our first-choice forwards work every other Saturday - but by some ill chance they all work the same weeks on & off, so one week we have our strongest pack, the next we can be struggling. We're also missing our captain (back this week after a few weeks) and a several other lads through injury.

Really pleased with the first half on Saturday - intense in defence and simple but effective in attack, whereas the second half was a different story. We knew the ref would bring LH into the game, but still disappointed with how things went. Overall I think we did well to hold on - LH started to run harder as the game went on and injuries meant we had no subs left after about an hour.

Our big focus now is to take that intensity into training and into next week.

As for the lads you mention from the Chester game, you're absolutely right and it's something we're aware of - both are RU converts who don't yet have a RL 'brain', if that makes sense. One is a powerful, aggressive runner but can be a liability in defence, the other can't train often but is an excellent RU full back with pace to burn. The first lad knows he cost us the Chester game and to be fair he apologised to us all, and put in a much better shift against LH. A bit more experience and understanding of RL defensive line movement and he'll be a valuable player.

Good to hear that the player apologised to the squad, at least he will learn from this irrespective if he plays union or league. He hopefully will develop his rugby league defensive awareness with training.

As said before it was a marked improvement though work patterns have changed which have hindered many a team before now and will continue to do so. The pack this week appeared to have strength in depth when rotating though I don’t think it was any stronger. So you do have some good forwards to play behind which ever week you play which is good but the difference this week was the back line and the team playing with more cohesion.

Keep up the good work!

Now that was a better performance!! 68-18, our best ever score and margin. icon_smile.gif

A few lads putting in a strong claim to retain their spots while others now need to work hard to get back in. Our 2nd rowers were out of this world, and the halfbacks, hooker and 13 just kept on creating gaps through the defence. As for the full-back, well he's got a bit of pace. Just very good across the park.

Defensively solid - our slide defence was spot on, though a couple of the conceded tries were soft and too many lads still trying to put shoulder hits on instead of wrapping arms round. But overall never looked like conceding too many points.

Just hope we take that into training this week, and into next Saturday's game.

Felt for Bolton, we've been on the end of a few hidings, but they'll be back.

we had 7 or 8 key players missing and we came away with a result like that!!
fantastic effort by everyone!! eusa_clap.gif icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

if that result doesnt get people wanting to train hard and get into the team nothing will!!

another great result for us doing the double over wigan bulldogs (a team we have never beaten until this season)
i think we played some good stuff in patches but we are killing ourselves with penalties and poor marker play and the defence in the middle of the park was poor at times too.. BUT on a positive note our attack was well organised and looked good, we had a good kicking game also icon_wink.gif pretty gutted we have a week off considering the form we are in at the min. lets keep up the good work lads

Also heard that a player walked off after 5 minutes and finished with 11 players so made it even tougher then it should have been

On the plus side it gives a saturday off for players to rest and recover
