My colleague has his preferred name on his badge. Everyone uses it, no one kicks up a stink, no one has ever queried it or deliberately gone out of their way to use anything other by what he says he prefers to be called.
Why it would be acceptable for him to say he wants to be called Dave, but not to say he prefers him/he is beyond me. According to these people

Pronouns, especially in a digital age, make complete sense. The number of times I've had a work email from a Nicky or a Charlie and thought, "male or female?".

The culture warriors on the right are the biggest snowflakes in the world. It doesn't take much, perhaps the sight of someone doing something kind or a rainbow flag or even a name badge, to get them reduced to a near frothing-at-the-mouth rage.

So incensed they withdraw their account. Like displaying a pronoun actually affects them in any way shape or form- other than providing g them with a mechanism for having an excuse for being polite.

I agree that pronouns are incredibly helpful at work in peoples email signatures. We have people from across the world and without speaking to someone I wouldn't automatically know their gender. Having them on a name badge I don't really care either way.

What sent people further in to a spin (can you do rotisserie gammon?) was probably the "If you don't like it feel free to go elsewhere" tone of response. The individual may well have thought this but if you're on shift as the corporate twitter account there was probably a slightly more "We are proud to be inclusive and welcoming to all our customers and staff" line to take.

To be fair, the first response of your average right-wing snowflake is to proudly announce that they are boycotting said company or service with whom they don't agree. Good on the Halifax for calling them out to do exactly that.

How do you know they were all right wing? There are plenty of left wing bigots as well.

There is bigotry across the spectrum, but when it comes to this specific topic, I can't see many people on the left being against the use of pronouns!

Said it before and will say it again. The snowflakery on the right knows no bounds. If it's not getting upset about name badges it's the sight of little words next to people's profiles.

Cheap and effective diversionary tactic by the moneyed/kleptocratic right to keep the poor/angry right poor and angry. A broad church of happy political symbiosis.

It's hard to imagine anyone being played as easily as this. But I know people IRL who are just as easily tricked into culture war ridiculousness as some of our friends on here seem to be - left venting in a red-faced rage about stuff that even they know is absolute trivia.
