| Covid deaths at nearer 47,000 than 36,000 government reporting according to ONS
Average deaths up 60,000 compared to 5yr average (werent some of those defending the government saying lets wait till we know what deaths are like compared to other years? Some were even suggesting the coronavirus wasnt that big if a problem).
Government are using Trumps playbook to deflect, blame the media, blame anyone but themselves.
It's all the media fault, why, because Cummings told me 40 times yesterday that I should be angry with them and not him. Gove telling me again this morning.
As for the whataboutism being used by the right supporters, good luck to you. You've spent the last 3/4 years spreading as much dirt and spin as you could, you got your wish and you expect others to not follow and just agree with everything these people say (The same people whove lied through their back teeth for their own benefit over the last 3/4 years). The Bots are already in full.flow spreading the word that its labours fault, the mdedias fault, the remainers fault etc. Etc.
I dont like a lot of what the press say and do, but if you want anyone to believe they are only against one side or the other your living in dreamland. They're after everybody.
Unfortunately for this government and those that support it theres a lot there going to have to defend.

| Quote ="Backwoodsman"Balance? Don’t recall anybody parking a van with a large tv screen outside corbyns house. Nor do I recall Corbyns neighbours being encouraged to hurl abuse at him when he walked don the street. Balance? Any veiws on Kinnocks visit to his parents. Any veiws on the odious campaign from Campbell. As for the press in love with Boris Johnson, you must be viewing a different press. The bbc plus sky news along with channel 4 have for months campaign aggressively against Johnson.'"
We clearly do seem to view different "media".
Generally speaking, Johnson is still viewed as the blue eyed boy and this, despite the UK having the highest number of deaths from Covid in Europe and despite his unelected side kick taking the absolute out of the lockdown rules.
As for Kinnock visiting his parents, it doesn't come close to the actions of "jackanory" Cummings.
You are aware that they went for their test drive to Barnard Castle on her birthday and as a capable driver, who was clearly fit enough to drive, the sensible option would have been for her to insist on driving back and not go for a nice little visit to Barnard Castle, albeit that it was closed due to LOCKDOWN and anyone believing that it takes 15 minutes plus, for a 4 year old desperate for a pee, is not in the same world as the rest of us.
There was not "danger to life" for the youngster who has been used as some twisted version of a "human shield" here and to believe the fantasy stuff is just laughable.
The UK has been played on numerous occasions by Bojo and Dom and we're being taken for fools - well some of you are.

| The main reason the bulk of the media have turned against Johnson is the new Labour Party leader. The establishment feel they have dodged a Bullet with the Failure of Corbyn to be elected. In Starmer they see Blair mk 2, so if elected it will be business as usual. So effectively the press at the moment are the opposition, unfortunately most of them, rigby, boulton, peston Etc. Haven’t the faintest idea of Journalism, they want to be the story . They want to be the one that has the gotcha moment, they might want to check out the david frost president Nixon interview. Or the many interviews of Brian Walden ,that’s proper journalism. The only one we have in comparison is Andrew Neil. Not surprisingly Johnson dodged the interview with Neil. Several journalists are on record as to hating Johnson, they have worked with him, have probably been trampled on as they witnessed his climb up the greasy political pole. So it’s payback time, personally I couldn’t give a tinkers cuss about any politician but it’s nauseating to see the likes of piers Morgan and Campbell piling in with A biased agenda. People in glass house throwing stones come to mind.
On the amusement front 3 bishops threatening to refuse to work with the tories, hilarious , not forgetting Anna soubry , wonder which party she belongs to this week.

Let me get this straight. You want proper journalism, but you're not surprised that Johnson dodged the proper journalist (I bet you applauded him for doing that, just like Sal did at the time), and now you're moaning that the wannabe journalists are looking for a gotcha moment?

As always you misinterpret postings to fulfill your left wing agenda. I never said I applauded Johnson I merely stated the obvious he avoided a tough interview. Whilst I am familiar with the works of Orwell especially 1984. Perhaps you could enlighten us all with the relevance of that book with my posting.

Doublethink.
You want proper journalism. You're not surprised Johnson dodged a proper journalist. You're not happy with the journalism from others. Do you want scrutiny or not? Are you one of these who champions democracy, just as long as difficult questions aren't asked of it? I'm struggling to see what you want from journalism. Maybe Johnson can write his own questions to be asked of him?

Bloody hell mate, you make the lefties on here look positively balanced.
You believe that Starmer is taking all the glory and that the press have turned on Boris
Just out of interest, where do you stand on Cummings. A "mistake", perfectly acceptable behaviour or, taking the - especially his "driving test", on his wife's birthday when he could have checked his eyesight quite easily on his parents farm and given his doubts with his eyesight and feeling so ill, surely, his wife should have driven.
Also, do you think Cummings is off the hook ?

What is with you socialists you always either ignore postings that don’t suit your agenda or misunderstand them. I never said Starmer was taking all the glory I merely observed that the media are more than happy with him as opposed to The Corbyn Labour Party. I am not bothered in the slightest with Cummings, however I do recognise that he is a superb political campaigner . He was one of the main reasons Brexit was achieved, his campaign was far superior to the woeful remain campaign He also he won the tories the last election for Johnson . Remember the slogan let’s get Brexit done, versus Corbyns muddled message. Whatever your political veiws you can acknowledge that fact. I think Johnson has too much invested in Cummings to let him go, however I could imagine Cummings Understandably deciding it’s not worth having His family put under pressure and vilified. So may well resign. The recent polls show Johnson plummeting whilst Starmer is on the up. Which is the point I am trying to make.
Obviously mass unemployment is coming down the track due to the coronavirus, you should thank yourself lucky that labour aren’t in power. The messenger always get shot so it’s a strong possibility Starmer will be prime minister.

I absolutely agree that in terms of Starmer v Corbyn, the media are far happier with Starmer in charge of Labour but, this discussion was about Boris v Starmer, where you suggested that because of his "previous form" Johnson was getting a hard time, which simply isn't true.
The only flack that Johnson is currently getting is in relation to his "management" of the current Covid crisis and his "management" of his staff.
I'm a little surprised that you have no opinion on Cummings, in fact, surprised to the point where like Johnson, you prefer not to criticise the bloke because of his past efforts, which I agree that he was supremely effective ?
However, to allow him free reign, to make his own rules and contrive some jackanory episode in order to try and justify his wrongdoings, I think is pretty poor form but, you are of course entitled to your (lack of) opinion.
You, like Johnson, seem prepared for this guy to please himself. Maybe, if the rest of the country had been so utterly selfish, the current situation would last even longer that it is doing currently, which is a bizarre "opinion" for anyone to hold.
His actons and the lack of firm leadership from his boss will have a significant number of people thinking "boll***s to this, I'm going to go to see...…"

I am more than happy with the democracy and journalists however sub standard they may be. I am trying to make the point that a section are pursuing a vendetta towards Johnson .One of the reasons is because he abandoned Cameron and joined the leave Brexit campaign along with Cummings, he was without doubt The reason we left the EU . The metropolitan elite and establishment hate him for that. Many journalists who have worked alongside Johnson don’t care for him, example, max hastings the author and war corespondent Has frequently called him a liar. Funniest thing was Johnson running first time for London mayor, Livingston laughed out loud at that so called political buffoon. Several year’s down the line he acknowledged that he was confronted and well beaten by an extremely wily opponent.

With Johnson standing by his man, it's getting a whole lot closer than 30 years.
It's almost poetic that Cummings returned "home" to the North East, an area that has recently jumped on the Troy bandwagon.
They say that "we" get the government that we deserve and certainly you deserve this lot.
We have an unelected advisor running the show and any half decent PM with a pair of balls would have got rid, to help preserve the party and it's standing but, Boris has "gambled everything on black".
There are plenty of murmurs of dissent from within the Tory ranks and if a couple of senior Tory's grow a pair, Cummings will be gone and rightly so.
Lets see if they can grow any.

Any grief that Johnson is getting will remain a long way behind the stuff that Corbyn was vilified for.
How short some memories actually are.

This is same the world over - companies do not treat their star performers in the same way they do the ones that make up the numbers - whatever you say about Cummings he is a winner and has masterminded two very successful campaigns. The Tories will need him big style in 2024.

Ironically, more than ever if he carries on like he has been.
Boris is sure to balls things up some more before he comes to the end of his term and with the inevitable rise in unemployment plus, the certainty of them having to break their triple lock on income tax, NI and VAT, he is sure to be tested further than even Cummings has managed so far.
We'll find out then just how forgiving the UK public actually are.

| If Hancock did so well against Preston why was he so quick to cut him off before asking a second question, could it be he did not want to be questioned further about his own circumstances. Your post merely proves my point that you are desperate to latch onto even the smallest hope that the government are doing a good job which of course they are not. The problem is that the government’s failures have resulted in unnecessary deaths and this is something that many will not forget, even if you try to ignore it.

I'm particularly in awe of those who are offended by the people doorstepping him. This was the kind of behaviour Cummings and Johnson were stirring up during their 'Get Brexit Done' campaign, which was leading to threats against MPs of all stripes. Divisive language and confrontational rhetotric. Dom is merely reaping what he's sown. He can now sleep in the bed he shat in for all I care.
