With licences being the hot topic at the moment with Crusaders getting the chop and Wakefield living to fight another day I was wondering what everyone thought the 2015 licences would look like and if you thought the Eagles would be in the mix?

I wasn't around for the Super League days and would love to see it in Sheffield. By the looks of things the club is aiming for 2015 but I think 2015 will come around too quickly.

By 2014 we will have to had a turnover of at least £1,000,000 one year, reached a GF or won the NRC and have had an average attendance of 2,500 on year too..

What does everyone think..?

Average attendance of 2500 will be the sticking point.

If I was aiming for Superleague, I'd throw the kitchen sink at it for three years. If we got there, great. If we didn't, I'd at least know I'd had a fair go and people in Sheffield just can't be coaxed to the ground.

I think in three years time we can meet all the laid out requirements (financial stability, youth adacemy progress, stadium, hopefully a GF appearance). The only thing missing is the people.

But if im honest, i think the licencing system is a good idea in theory, but the RFL havent practiced it very well.

We already have pretty much everything in place except crowd and a trophy.

South Yorkshire Cup? Thats a trophy.

I agree with what you both said and it such a big city like this I'm sure we could pull an extra 1,000 or so but it will take some hard work.

Near enough for it to be solved if the crowd hit the mark.

I think there is another major stumbling block as well as the crowd. Thats the ground. We've used 3 different grounds this season and I don't see that changing in the future. Until the Eagles have their own ground then I think the Superleague is just a dream.

Well, security of tenure is one of the requirements. Presumably we are assuming that we can tick all the boxes or there is no question of being in at all.

I suppose you have to look at the current incumbents and say "Who are we better than ?" At the moment, I'd say the answer is "none of them".
