| Which professional rugby league grounds are the worst ever ?
IMO:
1) Mansfield Marksmen's Alfreton ground (circa 1986). A non event of a stadium. A park with changing rooms & a Shed).
2) Waterhead's Castleton Gabriels Ground. I'm not saying the terracing was small and shallow, but I had to breathe in to let people pass. Still, had intersting toilets. The wall for the loo's were that low, we could all see Hillsbrough Lad having a pee
3) Rochdale's, Athletic Grounds (until 198icon_cool.gif. Made Owlerton look like Nou Camp)
4) Swinton's Salford City ground. Horrible! A tin shed & concrete seats.
5) Swinton's Sedgely Park. Small stand, lots of trees & a clubhouse).
Made Clifton Lane look like Headingley.

| Definitely Waterhead although that's not professional. Concur with Sedgley Park too.

| Agree with Waterhead, beyond a joke that.
Worst in pro leagues was Salford City for me. About 120F with no shade, and we lost.

| Ok, Waterhead wasn't professional but it was in the Challenge Cup. One thing we are all in agreement was it was dump.
Salford City was awful. And yes, Dr, it was boiling hot. I'll never forget getting back on the coach & nearly melting.
Actually, I must have forgotten to mention Tattersfield, Doncaster. It was a shocker of a place, especially in winter & when it rained.
Mind you it was a King at the side of the other two.

| This thread is a bit rich considering we've just played at Mount St Mary's.
Although to be fair the buildings and the grounds were in excellent condition, which is more than could be said for many of the now derelict or demolished old grounds.
i haven't been to Alfreton's ground recently but I assume it's a lot better now that they have been promoted to the Blue Square Prem.

| Barrow is a complete shed too. I also find it hard to believe Boundary Park hosted PL football.

| Salford City is definitely the worst 'ground' i've ever watched rugby at.

| Tim 2, I was just thinking that and I started the thread ! What was that thing about "People in glass houses" lol.
Still MSM was better than I thought it would be.
Alfreton Town is a smashing little ground nowadays. Not far off all seater, must be getting on for 4000 capacity. I wish we had a ground like that !

| Derwent Park at Workington is really showing its age. It is clear to see that no maintainance of any sort has been carried out for at least a decade, having said that i do like it!

| DV is in good condition but the distance from the action isn't conducive towards it being a "good ground"

Always summat cosy about the tiny bar in the main stand though
To be fair, it was a very good view in the scoreboard end in the days that they opened it for rugby games. Must be even colder there now though (if that was possible) with one of the touchline stands demolished.

| I went there to watch Wednesday this season and it was absolutely freezing, is the scoreboard end the end to the right as you look out of the main stand? That's where we were stood, I've only been once to watch Eagles and was in the main stand.

That's right, yes. The scoreboard end (the away end for OAFC games) was always allocated for Leigh fans up until our final visit to Boundary Park when everyone was put in the main stand instead.
