| Looking at things maybe the RL should have started with a welsh summer league, then a conference league of maybe twenty teams in wales just to get people involved and get into the community.
instead of traveling hundreds of miles every week and paying out lots of money
give young kids and teenagers something to do, something to get involved in,
Bridgend would want to beat Neath even if it was a knitting competition, Swansea against Cardiff , give twenty places in wales a chance instead of one ,then have play offs against the top English Conference sides for the top five teams or so, this should raise skills and confidence levels with more players playing in wales making the pool bigger to pick from "for
a good championship team until the time is right" to move on up.
So was the move to Wrexham a waste of money?

| I personally think so. But as it's not my money or my clubs money that's being wasted, the person(s) wasting the money have every right to waste it as they like don't ya think??
It's those fans in South Wales that have been sold a wrong un here!!

There is a Welsh summer league and has been since about 2005 IIRC.
As for the Wrexham move, it was that or bye-bye Crusaders (and since the RFL had already advanced them their TV money, what was there to lose?).
It's probably not going to work out but it isn't the RFL's cash that will be wasted (on this occasion).

How many teams are in this summer league and is it a totaly welsh league. and as for whose money it is, the RL should be thinking of spreading the game and keeping hold of its new fans by making sure of things, by doing things fair and even for all teams, the only thing that is happening is 14 AUSSIES WILL GET PAID STUPID MONEY for playing for a Welsh team that is nearer to the English border than Widnes is to the welsh border.
As for spreading the game how far is Wrexham from Cheshire the home of Widnes and Warrington?

| There will be 12 next year I think, and barring the odd Englishman, Tongan or Kiwi around the clubs (probably less than 10 in total), all the players are Welsh. People like Aled James, Jordan James and Lloyd White, all of whom played Super League for the Crusaders last year, started in this league.

Yup, two leagues, the one I linked to plus a Merit League for newer / weaker teams.

| Judging on the basis that the Crusaders Colts side that won the 2008 Conference National Title was largely drawn on players that were playing either NL2/1 and Welsh Conference RL , I think we have a good basis on which to draw a team that can compete in Championship 1 , possibly even challenge for the title? We also have the 2009 U18 National Youth League Winners players who with a years experience under their belts would provide good support to complement this experience. A second Welsh RL side was mooted years back to [provide a suitable two tiered path for progression of RL players in Wales though I wish it hadn't been forced under the current circumstances.
People cannot compare the Rugby culture of Yorkshire and the RL Heartland to that of Wales , either North or South , both of which are very different in themselves to each other ( I have lived/played in both).I hope given the right system for development the Crusaders will lead a two tiered development path both North and South Wales for RL players in Wales ,something Welsh RU has failed to do for over 100 years, the good thing for North Wales is that RU is not a major part of the local community like it is in South Wales and this may help RL to succeed in Wrexham.

| Personally I dont think the move is a waste of money, but i can understand why south wales fans and Widnes fans are hacked off. At club level in Wales Union is at a shocking standard and the public deserve a better spectacle but there should have been more money spent on building a rugby league infrastructure than just a super league club. The RFL saw the success in France and got giddy. I want the Crusaders to succeed but the RFL have to address the real issues which is building from the bottom up, I hope im wrong and that this new investor puts things right, good luck for the new season.
