Now that things have finally been confirmed - news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 413910.stm - I think it's time to forget the negativity and look to the future.
I work and study in Wrexham and I'm delighted that the town now has a Super League club to support. I've maintained for some time that there is a huge passion for RL in North Wales and I'm looking forward to getting behind Brian and the team.

| forget the negativity? Are you real?
Not only have you still got embittered old flatcappers like myself who've been sceptical about the "welsh project" from the off. The rfl have hacked off the very people the welsh club was introduced for e.g. New fans from south wales brought to the game!
Instead we now have a hybrid club, that in all likelihood won't have the home following of the club in bridgend but hey ho, "let's cash in on a projected increased away support! Wrexham has littl to offer rugby league developmentally and it's location is an affront to those who have supported it since it's inception!
Renounce Negativity? You'll be believing in father christmas next!

| My word you ex Colliers are very stubborn and bitter men.
Give Wrexham a chance before spouting like that.
Its new money into the game, a wealthy Chairman and an excellent Stadium.
S Wales may yet succeed in their quest with an all Welsh Outfit but if you feel that furthering this great game of ours is to replace Crusaders with Fev then God help us.

Yes I am bitter. Exclusion from SL has left me that way. As I suspect the majority of Salford/Wakey fans will be when/if they don't get a licence next time. It leaves you that way!!
Give Wreham a chance???? Like Bridgend had the chance you mean??? And that left the majority of their fans feeling embittered too. I perhaps now have something in common with S Welsh RL fans!!

Where have i said that??? Don't misrepresent my words. All have have ever wanted is an equal and fair chance for my club to succeed at the highest level! If it never happens on a level playing field, c'est la vie. But as said on another thread, we did actually win the thing once!!

| Well lost for words to be honest. All i can say this is all a farce and a big joke.Wrexham is a football area and poor celtic fans wont travel 3 and half hours away.I would not travel that far for a home game.Noble makes me laugh they same as usual as he got a job.

| I really feel for the fans left behind in Bridgend.
Yes the facilities are there in Wrexham, but it wont take off the locals only care about football.
If the football club ever became successful again & got the crowds in they'd push the crusaders out.
I cant believe S.L have agreed to it....shame on them

| Well, I know at least two people who will be going along to watch the Crusaders in Wrexham and that's my cousin and his wife who live in Llangollen. They're well pleased that Superleague is coming to North Wales as they have had to rely upon their local pub to watch matches (there's quite a following in the local pub apparently, and many have said to my cousin that they are going to be watching the Crusaders next season).
North Wales may well be interested in soccer but there are also a lot of ex-pat Northern English living there as well as many Welsh people who, according to my cousin anyway, have enjoyed watching Sky matches. So I don't think it is necessarily a dead end. It could take off.
I hope both clubs take off. That would be excellent. It suits Nobby that he's getting a great big batch of Aussies to play for him since he likes to import no matter which team he is coaching. Hopefully what he says about developing local talent isn't all media orientated hot air and he will put his back into that side of things like John Dixon clearly did in south Wales.
Remembering the way the Welsh played for their home country in the European Cup, I'd say that if those same guys played for the South Wales team then they should have little problem competing at Championship 1 level. I'm keeping fingers crossed that all the work done in South Wales will really start to bear fruit now that young players have potentially two options open to them so far as playing Rugby League is concerned. Assuming the Crusaders survive (obviously), then a good pathway has opened up to aspiring RL players in Wales. That's great IMO and well worthy of support from the rest of the RL community.

Great stuff. The 1995 Rugby League World Cup and successful cross-code transfers around the same time made quite an impression on people living in North Wales. While there may not be 1000s of active Super League fans, there are lots of people with a passing interest who may now be tempted to follow their new, local club.

| Just give them a chance. Who knows what will happen. I do feel sorry for those supporters in south wales who have supported them from the 1st game, its like thanks for your support, but goodbye.
Imagin if a football club just moved to another town, hang on there was. Wimbledon, now MK Dons.

errr, the RFL have just given a Welsh club the opportunity to waste resources and 3 years on "a chance"! How many chances do we offer. What next??
Quote: andysilsden " Who knows what will happen..

and there's the rub I believe. There doesn't appear to be any meaningful market research for selling the RL product in Wrexham. AN untried RL area that has an established footy club. Apart from the odd one or two fans who will attend and some out of 'curiosity', this hurridly organised venture, spurred as much by LS desire to get shut of the Crusaders ASAP than any developmental reason, appears to be pinning it's hope on an increased away support to function!! There does not appear to be any other firm business planning at the mo other than someone with a few bob prepared to underwrite the coming season, and the welsh/rfl have been there before. Madness. Shear bloody madness.
Woods and Lewis would struggle to manage a fish and chip shop.
Leighton Samuels does not come out of this sordid affair with any shred of credibility.
The current arrangement for the club has 'sold out' the south welsh fans and made another mockery of the game - tho to be fair, making a mockery out of twit and tw@ is not difficult!

Too early to say as obviously they will need a team of people prepared to put the hours in. I think Wrexham and Deeside may be a bit over ambitous.

A situation made even worse by the strides made in S Wales with their junior set-up! I can see that falling off big time now!
