The thing is, Menzies could quite easily have scored off the Dureau kick and we wouldn't have had all that messing about getting it out to Millard. Just making it too hard for ourselves - playing under self-imposed and needless stunt conditions.

I don't know - he had at least two Saints players jumping with him in competition for the ball, and was heading backwards towards the try line (also he lay flat out in the in-goal for the rest of the play). There was every chance he'd have been wrapped up and held up over the line or - worse - driven back into the field of play for the tackle. Menzies must have known there was a two-man overlap around the Stains defence towards the touchline, and anyone would have expected Blanch to go across from there - Saints did well to get across to keep him out. I think he made the best choice. |

Speed he was going, all he had to do was twist on impact and he scores. Still, we scored anyway so happy days. |

How do you replace a [ibona fide[/i legend?We didn't really go out and try to replace Stacey Jones, but the incentive to match his performances while he was around brought out the best in Thomas Bosc. Someone has to grasp that mantle and prove they're capable of taking on Menzies' role in the future. |
