The 2011 season starts to gain momentum

The 2011 rugby league season in Catalonia has started to take shape. The ACRL (Associació Catalana de Rugby Lliga), with the collaboration of the clubs and players, is preparing the 2011 championship. After the 2010 season this year, 2011 there has been an overall restructuring of the league. This season there will only be between four and six teams participating. The league will run from May to the start of June and the ACRL will keep followers up to date at all times leading up to the big kick off. The Catalan RL have stayed in contact with different European countries with the intention to play internationals.
Nations such as Holland, Norway, Malta, Italy and Germany have offered to play against the Catalan XIII. To prepare for these internationals matches work is already underway to organise a weekend training camp at the Font Romeu stadium where a festival of rugby will take place and culminate in a Catalonia-France (National division) match.

I'm glad it's back. Have they considered competing as Spain so they can be officially included in RLEF tournaments?

Doubt that has even entered their heads. Rememeber the Catalonia captain telling me he didn't think they'd ever be officially recognised but that wouldn't deter them from playing the game.

Sad news but I was kind of expecting it. There will be no Catalonia Championship this year due to lack of player commitment and guarantees.
Personally I'd be surprised if thisxwasnt the end of rugby league here.
