| Quote ="StingInTheTail"Bad up there mate. I have seen things up there I have never seen in 15 years of rugby league. We all like it tough but blantant leg break attempts elbows to jaws gouging is par for the course up at their elegant place. When you play them at your place you might want to play on a big pitch instead of one of your small ones!
'"
Aye, we (Woolston) had 2 players gouged at Adlington away but what can you do?
Unfortunately, we are governed by the local Parish council who will not let us use the main pitch on bennetts rec hence us using the one over the road. We have absolutely zero say in that.
We would much rather use a bigger and wider pitch.

| Unfortunately foul play breeds that foul play. I'm not at all condoning elbows and foul play, however it's very difficult to keep your cool when the other team is playing so dirty. Speaking from a personal point of view, I've never been sent off in an almost 20yr playing history but I did find myself rising to the foul play on that occasion, the odd punch in a tackle or whatever doesn't bother me but when there's fingers purposely going in eyes it crosses a line. At the end of the day were all in the same boat, we all have to get up for work on a Monday morning, that kind of thing could very easily ruin a blokes life. But I suppose you've got to accept there will always be stupid people who don't have a brain to think about it like that.

| Once they pull on the green and gold (or white and green with a bit of yellow) they are Woolston players. I don't care what they did last summer, last year or any other time!

| Tough game today with Dalton, good set of lads and glad we managed to get the win! Left it a little bit too late tho!
The one downside to the game was the referee who failed to control the game and gave some ludicrous decisions for both teams. Unfortunately a blatant raised elbow in a tackle which resulted on one of our lads having 25 stitches went unpunished! Absolute joke!! I'm not having a go at Dalton there though because that was the only bit of foul play I saw!

Yeah good bunch they were. At 34-18 up after 50mins though we should have closed the game out and won comfortably but credit to Dalton for coming back.
The elbow was as clear as day, the ref said it was self defence when I went on the pitch to attend our player?????????? Work that out?!?! 25 stitches in his lip. How is an elbow self defence???
A great game of rugby league though by 2 teams wanting to play open rugby league ruined by a tool with a whistle.

| Watched West Bank take the unbeaten Clock to pieces last week, can they be beaten?
Tough game in the Semi of the Lancs Cup but fair play to them, they shouldn't be worried about any team right now!
And I say that trying not to choke with envy

Awesome win for WB, well done to them. They have really kicked on in the 2nd half of last year and this season.
We, Woolston, play the winners of Judes and Clock next week in the cup. We know Judes but have no idea what Clock are like, obviously a very good team judging by their league record.

6 wins on the bounce now for us and we have moved into 2nd place. Good wins against Maries, Ince, Halton. Dalton, Orrell and Latchford. Having a settled side is paying dividends now and competition for places is awesome. Dont think anyone will catch West Bank though this year, they are proving to be a class act. Our poor start to the season hasnt helped us in that!
A week off this week and then a cup game next week but unfortunately looks (well we will) be missing quite a few for that one

| West Bank are a top side with some of Widnes' best young players, I will leave my judgement about how good they actually are untill they play week in, week out in the Prem, dont get me wrong they are a strong side but we have to remember that they wont be in the Prem until they win Div 2, then get promoted from Div 1 next season, so we are waiting till 2012/13 season till they fulfil there own ambitions..........in my humble fifty odd year old opinion a few good Widnes Cup games and a few wins in the Lancs Cup does not make you invincible, but on the other hand I believe West Bank are the only team in the whole of the NWC with any go forward or potential, outside of the Premier League.
I await your responses

| Just to clear this up......I am not saying that West Bank are the only team any good, I am saying "Go Forward" ie, 2 good sides, a new purpose built ground and clubhouse, good recruitment etc.
I never meant to offend any of the other clubs out there but its clear that West Bank are too good for Div 2, but like I said, lets not get carried away because they still have to be promoted twice and then perform at the top level........or depending on what there committee decide they could apply for the National Conference as they have possibly the best setup in the NWC, they have numerous junior and youth teams that are are run very well, they have lots of volunteers to help out on matchdays whether its Saturday or Sunday and they have 2 good open age sides.
Hope this clears it up

they havent even entered the barla national cup, surely any aspirations of playing at a higher level youd expect a side to enter these competitions, to truly test themselves. dont get me wrong but the lancs cup is a second fiddle competition now that ncl teams only enter 2nd teams.
