| Now this certainly aint meant to be said in a bad way so no one take it like it is. I personally think he should be honest or the club as well and admit that if these head problems are as bad as they seem and I hope for the guy there not, then is it time to call an end to his KR days. Like I say its not meant in a nasty way but some one needs to be honest like MW was. If this is going to be a problem next season then the guy isn't going to be playing a lot of games and I would sooner us get another centre that will play more games. I hope he does carry on so we can see how good he is meant to be but like any other club we don't want injury prone players. Don't no if anyone else thinks the same on this.

| Tbh if he’s been out this long I’d say as sad as it is and a much waste of talent I think it’s time to finish with contact sport altogether not worth risking your life for .... but if that does happen I hope the club and the sport help him to get a job and move on from the sport

| I suspect he, the club and clinician(s) assessing him don’t know yet. Beyond acknowledging that uncertainty, I doubt anybody can offer any more honesty.

| With the recent increase in head injury assessments and the rise in both long and short term concussion injuries, do you think there’s an argument to enforce the wearing of scrum caps or do you think that will give cause for it escalate to American football levels of personal protection equipment?
Just putting it out there.

Scrum caps don't offer protection from concussion or similar injuries

The only thing scrum caps protect is if you have a cut on the head or stitches no good for anything else
Just putting it out there.'"

| Yeah good idea. Bin a player off mid contract even though the medical people say he could be ready to go again in a few months.

I think the issue with concussion is more the brain bouncing around inside the skull, so scrum caps don’t make that much of a difference. They are better at preventing cuts and skull fractures.
Edit. For example:

You are correct. I assumed that scrum caps were intended to protect from concussions or similar, however I’ve just read they’re for protection against cauliflower ear.
There is also an argument against enhanced head protection akin to American football as it may be attributable to further or worse head injuries.
Apologies I misunderstood their use.

However, they do seem to be used as a token gesture when someone has suffered head injuries

| Heff was at the club family day at CP today representing the club well as he always does.
He is a very talented player, well thought of at the club and contracted for next year. He will be given every chance to resume his career and will not be pushed into retirement unless and until advised to do so by the experts.

Carney and Shaw might have something to say about that

Vaivai & Heffernan are both top quality centres. Contrasting styles which is good.
Wallis & Oakes for sure still in the 'potential' bracket. Despite his absolute shocker at Castleford I rate Wallis the better prospect. He is the bigger, stronger and faster of the two he is according to Sheens easily the fastest player at the club. His gaffes at Castleford will be eliminated with experience.
Obviously there is a cloud hanging over Heff but no doubts about his ability.
Let's not dismiss Ryan Shaw either. When he & Wallis switched wings at Cas the constant danger on our right edge was largely eliminated. Shaw can catch a high ball, is a great finisher and has kicked 10/10 goals from all angles in the last 2 games. I expect Wallis & Oakes will be competing for the other wing next season.
