Just read on our website that Chris Young has suddenly passed away at the weekend aged 71. Such a shock and very sad news.

He was our ever present #2 winger when I started watching the team regularly in 1965 and a cracking bloke to boot. He could beat the opposite man easily inside or out and was a great defender too. Don't know the exact stats, but he must have made the best part of 200 appearances over a long career and at a time when we were a consistently top team.

Thanks for the great memories, Chris. RIP.

Sad news indeed. He and Alan Burwell were probably the best right sided partnership Rovers have ever had. I remember Chris scoring one particular try against Hull at Craven Park when he 'stood up' Arthur Keegan and made him look daft and Arthur was the best British fullback of his generation or come to that probably any generation.

Obviously never saw him play but my step-dad has mentioned the fella on more then a few occasions.
